Issued Sleep System-Use and Temp Range

I was on an ex last year using the issue inner, outer, and  bivy bag with a 3 year old canadian tire fleece liner.  We were in a mod tent without heat and on cots.  My bags had not been dry cleaned in 2 years and I was fairly warm at -45 (-55 with windchill  :o) wearing only my gitch.  The bags...

    CADPAT Rain Gear

While I understand the train of thought behind the deploying personel getting new kit first, they are just going to get the arid pattern rain gear when they get there anyway.  Should the temperate pattern not go to the people staying here who will be actually using it?

    Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

I agree with this post completely.  I am in a CSS unit and while I haven't been overseas yet (although I am leaving in a few days to do so),I have seen quite a few people who were attached to units as individuals come back.  Almost all of these people are changed in one way or another.  I truly...

    Are you angry yet?

Very well-spoken article.  It's a real shame that people who have no idea of the actual situation over there are writing articles designed to sway public opinion against our cause.  I really hope the paper wll print this response.

Boot, General Purpose (Mk III acting/interim replacement)

I recieved the shiny pair, the dull pair and the arctic slippers less than 2 years ago so I think they are all still being issued.

PM, Def Min @ CFB Petawawa 11 May 07

I was also there today, and I very much enjoyed and appreciated the fact that the PM, CDS and MND were in attendance and spoke.   Hillier is always enjoyable to listen to, and I like the stand that the PM took on the Afghan prisoner debate.   That being said, it did seem mostly like a political...

    Caloric content of IMPs

From my experience the LMC's are more of a 'snackpack' than an actual meal.  And the cheese is absolutely awful.  :'(

    winter ruck cam cover help

Actually, when it is unrolled over the ruck the green patch should be at the bottom of the valice bag. And since no one else has actually told you how to put it on, I'll tell you how I was shown.  Just tie the straps on the white end to the frame right above the shoulder straps.  When you pull...

ICE Combat Jacket - Front Lower Pockets/Straps and rear velcro?

I'm not sure if we would have a problem with that in my unit as I've always been told you are allowed to vent to cool down if necessary

    Canadian Military Postal System

But what about the mail that is not going overseas?  I can't even count how many times I have only recieved bills on their due date!  It seems like a lot of the time the system just can't seem to find us.

    EMMA Thread [Merged]

Hello I'm trying to find the web address of the EMAA site that allows you to check the status of your pay and such online, but all the addresses I have been given from my unit don't seem to work.  I was wondering if anyone had the address for the login oage of this site. Thanks in advance Jared

    Ok, time for questions

The only thing about not bringing a lot of stuff is whether or not you are going to be able to go get the rest of your clothes right after BMQ.  Cause it would kinda suck to be sent to Borden or somewhere else where you are allowed to wear civvies in the evenings and not really have any.  Just a...

Mk III Combat Boots: Use, Maintenance & Other Stuff.

I can't believe how many people don't like the Mark III's!  The Black Caddi's are the most comfortable thing I've had on my feet in a long time.  I personly don't like the WWB.  They are too warm and not near enough support for marches.  As far as socks, it's all personal preference.  I love the...

    Ok, time for questions

One thing that may be helpful to remember is they reimburse you.  You can sometimes get an advance on your claim, but most of the time you are paying first, then submitting the claim, then you get your money back a month down the road.

What not to do - No excuse BMQ tips [Merged]

For those going to basic in St. Jean here are some tips I picked up while I was there: -2 shaving kits; it's a must have. -secondary pairs of boxers, you do not want to be refolding something that took you 20 min to get right. -pick up a stiff brush such as a women's fingernail brush.  Brush...

Merged Quotes and Sayings Thread; some useful, some junk

Shouted at our basic platoon by one of our drill instructor's: "When you are at the position of attention you do not move!  I don't care if seagulls fly down from the sky and peck out your ****ing eyeballs, you do not move!" Heard during inspection: "What the hell is this?" "A dust bunny...

Soldier Qualification Course (Questions & Answers)

Hey guys.  I finished my SQ at the end of May in Meaford.  I'll try to tell you about some of the stuff we had to do. Our course was 7 weeks long plus about 4 days of pre-course for admin, get everybody their gear, etc.  There are 2 and a half weeks in the field, no drivers course, no anti...

    While in basic

I was wondering about this too, as my girlfriend is currently out of the country and the main method of communication right now is email.  That's all I would really want to use them for anyway.  Dial-up?  What's the reasoning behind that?
