Ahhhh mark dice, author of such classic as "the illuminati: facts and fiction", "the resistance manifesto", and "the dating book". Mandatory reading for anyone who believes they need to keep a basement bunker for when "the left" comes for "the guns".  :Tin-Foil-Hat:

Yeah Mark Dice is bat crap insane.  He's a conspiracy theorist who thinks 9/11 was staged by the US Military and that Rihanna and Jay Z promote Satanism.  Solid source.  The only thing that triggers me about Dice is that he's a conspiracy theorist bullshit factory like Alex Jones.

You forgot the soul crushing taxes on everything in Norway. It is the most expensive place that I have been on the planet.

Somebody has to pay for all that free shit.

Correct. "I" didn't forget about taxes, they're just irrelevant to the point about immigration. As Norway was #1 on the world happiness scale I doubt they're that worried about taxes. The US coming in at 14th woukd seem to indicate the point that the answer to Trump's question about why Norwegians don't immigrate is self apparent.

*note- the world happiness index is by its nature subjective. However it dies give some basis for analysis.

So, yes, people are ‘happy’ here. Happy because the system incentive's underachievement and leisure without the nasty consequence of watching a peer surge ahead financially.

I'm not a tax / immigration expert. Just adding for reference to the "discussion",

"The upshot of these comparative figures is that depending on location within the USA and on consumption habits, the typical American wage-earner may be as heavily taxed as the Norwegian one, who earns more."

Effective tax rate doesn't equal happiness or desire to immigrate. So yeah,  taxes are lower in the US. It's also irrelevant to the point. Taxes are lower in the US than in Canada too, but I prefer not buying day insurance so that my kid can play a hockey game in Bottineau, ND as well.

They are not irrelevant, really. I have spoken with actual real, live Norwegians, living outside Norway. They all love their country. They also all decried the price of absolutely everything inside Norway and how much they enjoyed being out from underneath it for a few years.

Of course, I acknowledge that anecdote is not evidence and that there is far more to life than the price of gasoline or your personal income tax load.

I guess what I am really saying is that I dislike simplistic memes, whatever their political persuasion.
