Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

Hah, yeah, the wife and I stayed there just over a year ago when we did our road trip out west. It was clean and quiet and otherwise utterly unremarkable. Lavish? No… It’s a Holiday Inn in Sudbury. It did the trick for a solid night’s sleep before our next leg to TBay.
Concur. Wife and I stayed there during a week long motorcycle trip. It met all requirements. And I paid for the room with my points.

Sadly it wasn’t an Express, so I didn’t feel any smarter, checking out the next day…

It's not the hair colour or even loss of it. I've seen plenty of people with not-very-stressed lives age from 40 to 60 without the deep lines and haggard look some high-level politicians pick up in 8 or 10 years.

Just to back up a bit about what I was saying

But I am sure that stress also factors in.

The current Canadian consul general in New York City is Tom Clark, who was a longtime broadcast journalist at CTV News and Global. He was named to the post in February 2023.

Diane Francis: Lavish condo purchased for consul general in New York epitomizes Trudeau's profligacy

Although the apartment isn't meant for the King, it’s fit for a king ...
Latest on this one .....

List price, not sold price, less commission and other costs.

Global Affairs set the price to reduce the controversy. At Committee yesterday the average selling price of the current residences in that building was less than 3/4 Million dollars and nothing has been sold for a year and a half.

Monthly condo fees are $20K plus taxes for the new place. Canada now owns two residences and the monthly carrying costs for both.

Opulence. The usual smoke from this government.

If the Consul-General is expected to host gatherings at their residence (they usually are), then maybe comparing their pad to the (likely) studio apt selling for 3/4 million isn’t exactly an apples-to-apples comparison.

Hell, studio apartments in Toronto are almost that much, and it’s not NYC.

Possibly, but Global Affairs did not check the Condo Rules to verify if those types of gathering are allowed.

The old residence is 200 sq ft smaller than the new place which has more rooms. This residence offers three bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and a study within 3,601 square feet of interior space. Hardly a Studio.

Watch some of the Committee meeting (on You Tube) to learn more and yoy may change your mind.

This is the listing: For Sale: 111 West 57th St. #11A in Midtown

I've said it before & I'll keep saying it, even if I get labeled a conspiracy theorist and some folks just roll their eyes...

Our government's primary goal is to bankrupt the country. Period. (Re making us a prime participant in the 'post nation state' experiment that is in it's infancy)

The destruction or reduction of unique Canadian values and Canadian identity runs parallel to the intentional destruction of our economic engine. The idea is to destroy the country's morale enough that the average person feels helpless & like the challenges facing them are too steep to be overcome, but not destroy the morale entirely as that leads to the catastrophic implosion of a nation. (So they must socially steer our society towards that 'sweet spot')

...

Carrying costs of $20k a month + taxes for a property that costs us $9M to buy, that was obviously not needed at all. (The previous residence was just fine & suitable for the tasks required for that position)

Every drop of economic blood that can be squeezed out of us and sent outside of the country helps them achieve their goal.

It may not seem like a big enough dollar figure to even blip the taxpayer radar, but it's all of these small expenses - too small to really blip on the taxpayer radar - that's led us to our national debt more than doubling, requiring us to spend more on servicing our debt in this last annual budget than we spent on healthcare...

...

Make no mistake, we are a frog that's been sitting in a pot of water that's slowly getting hotter & hotter...

If Canadians went to sleep in 2015, and woke up the next day to our economic situation being what it is now - the government wouldn't even know what hit em', we would lose our shit so fast!

But when the process gets drawn out over a decade...here we are...

Well said and spot on.

Its like ignoring that aggravating cough for a week or two, it gets worse, you brush it off for a month or two, then its get drastic and finally discover you have late stage cancer. This is the political equivalent.

I will add to that. Once your diagnosis is confirmed, you turn your back on modern medicine, you get on the internet, find the newest, most expensive fad cure and start using that. Then, you die.

You want me to set up an extra cot over here?

You want me to set up an extra cot over here?
Haha I genuinely appreciate the offer!! I'm not quite there...YET...

Let me know if you ever hit that spot yourself, I'm sure Sherwood Park would warmly welcome you.

I've got a 3 bedroom house & it's just my dog Magnus and I - plenty of room here if anybody needs a bed & a roof :)

Very keen observation made by @Colin Parkinson

The hub bub I hear from my neck of the woods (South East Grey County, West end Simcoe County). True, its blue but has belts of very left leaning people (Collingwood has a pretty big rainbow community event considering how small the town is for example). You can get a good mix of Farmers, Forestry, Construction, Retired City folk relocated, better off immigrants, some government employees, etc. So you have the far left, slightly left, slightly right, somewhat right and don't give a political shit one way or another.

First off, housing is pissing people off beyond belief. True, the housing cost up here are a tiny fraction compared to GTA but when single moms were paying $1600-1800 a month for a 1-2 bedroom dwelling rent 3-4 years ago, and are now paying $2500-3000 a month for same thing? Not going over very well. Who is everybody blaming? Trudeau. A very small portion blame Doug Ford.

Jobs. This is another bone of contention. 3-4 years ago, every fast food, Tim Hortons, etc was mostly staffed by Teenagers and very young adults. Now they are mostly being staffed by TFW (Temporary Foreign Workers). Who are the youth blaming? Trudeau again. Whats worse? They are starting to get a strong anti-foreigner attitude amongst people who didn't have it a few years ago.

Fuel. We live in an area where everything is some distance apart. Especially in Grey County. Carbon tax ain't going over well. Us farmers? We need fuel, full stop, period. Construction trades? Need fuel full stop. The carbon tax is going over like a big bag of shyte around here. Who is eating that one? Trudeau

Groceries. Prices very high. No matter how much Singh screams corporate greed, everyone is looking at Trudeau.

The two counties I am talking about are covered by two different conservative MPs. At this point, both of them look to remain very secured in staying on if they so wish to given the Trudeau antics.

You start talking about building more homes, creating jobs, building a better economy, shutting down crime and "safe supply BS" that is what RINGS through to people in my neck of the woods. Not some BS what or who is a socialist/communist/Pierre is always bad tweet that like no one pays attention to.

Conservatives continue to rock the polls.

As others have noted here, when the election comes, we’re not voting for someone, we’re voting against someone.

I hear the same thing from people here in Kingston and area.
