Hello
I would like to report a possible death of local man Michael Crook. On his website at http://www.forsakethetroops.info/ , it reports that two members of the military assaulted Mr. Crook to death. I was trying to think of why Syracuse, nor any other news groups, haven't jumped on onto the subject. His weblog at http://www.michaelcrook.com/mikesweblog/ , it also reports his death. It just hit me that there wasn't a story done on this yet, and was looking forward to reading it.
Thank you;

National Guard recruiters went TOO FAR!
Submitted by mike on Sat, 2005-05-14 22:26.
Okay, I can live with the corny recruiting PSA's on TV and the radio, trying to brainwash innocent people into military service, but this time it's personal!
I went to Blockbuster video today to rent some movies. Inside one of the movies was a mail-in recruiting card for the Army National Guard. It wasn't even the New York National Guard, but the main bunch of recruiting scum.
The LAST thing I want in something I pay for is an advertisment for this kind of thing! It should be ILLEGAL for recruiters to do this; it is a complete invasion of privacy, and disrespectful to say the least.

Is there such a thing as the New York National Guard (I thought the National Guard was one organization)

I own and operate Central New York's largest emergency services website here in Syracuse, NY! I have connections in all police, fire, and ambulance agencies throughout all of Central NY.
I did some investigating....
1. No such assault has occured.
2. No such assult was called into the 911 Center.
3. Nobody was brought into any of the 5 Syracuse hospitals with serious head injuries from an assault in the past week.
4. Nobody in their 20's died in this area recently.
5. No police report has been done for any such assault and death.

Doubts raised about report of
controversial Web master's death
By Joseph R. Chenelly
Times staff writer
A controversial Web site that has called wounded soldiers â Å“leechesâ ? and celebrates when U.S. servicemen are killed in action, is claiming its Web master was beaten to death yesterday.
But local police say no murder has occurred.
The site, www.foresakethetroops.info, posted a claim Tuesday morning that Michael Crook was physically attacked by two men and later died in a hospital from his injuries. The statement speculated that the attackers are â Å“thought to be members of the military, in response to their opinions about this Web site.â ?
Crook is the registered owner of the Web site, though the Web site has never revealed his name or location. The domain registry puts Crook's address as Syracuse, N.Y., and a phone number on the site is a Syracuse area code and exchange.
The site also says the two attackers were â Å“taken into police custody.â ?
But officials with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office in Syracuse told Army Times Tuesday that they have no record or knowledge of any such attack in the region.
A message left at the phone number listed on the Web site was not immediately returned.
The Web site has repeatedly posted disparaging comments about the military. Crook, the alleged blogger of the site, has said his main intent is to inform Americans that soldiers are paid too much for what they do.
Recently the site posted this: â Å“Don't military pukes learn anything? Nine more Marines bite the big one in combat. Stupid is as stupid does!â ?
On May 15, the Web site had a tally of American troops killed in Iraq. It read: â Å“Number of US soldiers killed in the Iraq War, of their own doing, because they CHOSE to be leeches: 1,583. These scumbags asked for it, and got it. Simper Cry.â ?
Numerous threats and derogatory remarks have been made toward Crook on several online military message boards over the past few weeks. Some boards have listed Crook's alleged home address complete with a map and satellite image of his neighborhood. Crook's Web site often bragged that he received thousands of hate e-mails daily.
In a purported April 28 interview that is posted on the blog â Å“The Dread Pundit Bluto,â ? Crook addresses perceived dangers of managing such a site.
â Å“I put my name out there, and people in the Syracuse area know who I am,â ? he is quoted as saying. â Å“People recognize me now, and I would not put my safety at risk over something I truly don't believe in. I wholeheartedly believe in my site and will defend it to the death, however that death may come.â ?
As of noon Tuesday, the site was online, but the statement on its front page says it will go offline permanently at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
In addition to the anti-military site, Crook is the registered owner of the domain for www.forsakethepolice.info.
