A Deeply Fractured US

I'm confused... I never said I did not? (nor did I ever said I did).

Why do I care ?

Why do we have any topic about other countries on this site ? Because its interesting discussion.

Why do I care about this specifically ? Because the left is a mockery of its self and when that is displayed in public I think its important. Its a champagne socialist movement and it needs to be shown for what it truly is.

So:

Why? I mean why do YOU, a Canadian and member of the CAF, care that I hope that some blue states north of the border receive more immigrants from the southern border?

Why do we care what anyone says on this site; because it intrigues us.

I just found it odd that instead of saying "it would/will be interesting", or "I'm curious to see", or something like that, you said "I hope", which just seemed a very personal thing to say for someone who is so far removed from that area and those issues. I mean, it's one thing to say "I hope the Uk's break through and re-take Kherson" because that has a direct impact on the war, and therefore world affairs (which do affect us), but US immigration politics? It just surprised me that you would "hope" for a particular event to take place.

I'm sorry that I've apparently hit a nerve, it was not my intent. I was just curious.

No nerves struck. It takes more than that.

What's your stance on this ?

I just think its funny that the Blue states were cool with open borders until illegal aliens started showing up in places like Martha's Vineyard.

Champagne socialists, the lot.
Where did you read that they weren't cool with it?

The MV migrants were moved to a place (within the same county) that could house them.

The issue, from my end, is that FL didn't consult MV before sending them there.

And the feds never consulted the border states before allowing a steady stream of illegals, but then Washington is a long way from Florida.

I think fundamentally people in the north and south are no different; they are mostly "good" people who want to help others. But, the south has had to bear the brunt of illegal immigration, and it's getting under their skin, and I think the GOP is taking advantage of that discontent for purely political purposes.

I think instead of pointing fingers and being shitty with each other, they should come up with a system to transport/spread illegal immigrants to the northern states, but not because "haha take that libs", but because genuinely they should all share in the collective burden.

Or just stop illegal immigration.

Or, being illegal, they should just be sent right the fuck home and the resources spent on those who chose not to circumvent the system.

Or just stop illegal immigration.
Agreed. But treating actual people like cattle isn’t the way to do it. Even if it makes the right wing red states involved and their cheerleaders feel good about “sticking” to the other side.

As an American who legally immigrated and naturalized., I’m not cool with illegal immigration.

Perhaps we should just bus them to Canada? How’d y’all like that?

There is a simple solution to illegal immigration in the USA. It only takes one law. Make it so anyone who employs illegal immigrants receives 5 years jail time for the first offence, and that includes the head of the company unless that company can prove they are being proactive in preventing illegal immigrants from working there.

Once there are no jobs (and there wouldn’t be with jailtime as the penalty) they wouldn’t illegally immigrate as their is nothing for them in the US.

However I don’t think the States wants to stop illegal immigration. They basically use them as a cheap form of expendable labour which they can exploit quite easily. Essentially the replacement of slavery in their society.

Oh snap! Why haven't they thought of that!? That's a brilliant idea, Weinie! Wow. That opens some real possibilities that I'd never thought of!

Gun violence in Canada? Let's just stop the illegal flow of illegal guns into Canada!

Drug overdoses? Let's just stop the illegal flow of fentanyl indo Canada!

Boy what else can we accomplish if we just stop things?!

You aren’t wrong.
There are a slew of jobs done by illegals and the shadow economy is huge from that.

The issue most Red states or individual Republicans have is without stringent voting identification rules, that a lot of those illegals end up voting —> for Democrats, and it really makes a further mockery out of our Electoral system.

The point isn't about whether you support illegal immigration or now. The point is about what you did with illegal immigrants once they are here.

You don't like that the feds are allowing illegal immigrants to stay? Fine, petition the government to change the law.

Until it's changed, what do you do with the illegal immigrants? Treat them like shit, or show them some dignity?

You show them compassion and dignity. And, since that can be burdensome, why not share the burden with other states? (just do it in an agreed upon manner, not as a political stunt).

At some point boils pop.

Exactly what you said, they couldn't get them on a bus and ship them to a National Guard base fast enough. They even cheered as the left Martha's Vineyard. Really compassionate Liberals. Pop that cork.

They were fine will illegal immigrants until they showed up in their own back yard.

That's easy to say when its not happening in your neighborhood/country. Its not like this was the first ever bus load of IAs.
I’d be appalled at any politician using this sort of crap to score points here. So yes it’s easy to say. I don’t believe that people should bus used in that fashion like cattle so that politicians can score points for future election runs.

I acknowledge the issue at their southern border and the pressures they have there and the Feds’ inability or unwillingness to deal with it.

I don’t know what the solution is to their border issue is. But it isn’t this.

Like I said, at some point the boil pops.

Either the powers that be deal with the issue or others will do it. I think we're now seeing the others taking action now. And its going to continue.

Same as crime. It will only get so bad and then the police and politicians will be seen to be ineffective and the population will step up.

So elected officials have a choice. Deal with the issue, or ignore it and send platitudes.
