A Deeply Fractured US

The "secret immigrant flights" have been misrepresented and are apparently widely misunderstood.

See here.

The real issue - illegal aliens crossing the southern border - is nevertheless unresolved. As a matter of policy, if the US is going to have loose borders, it makes sense to disperse people all over the US in order to reduce the impact on border states and communities.

Is that really "oddball" though?

Yeah, it's oddball. The people who want to excuse illegal immigration but keep illegal aliens mostly out of their own communities can't meet the issue head on and say "we want to let them in the country, but we don't want them in our communities and cities"; so, they skirt the issue and look for creative ways around it.

Agreed, if that plan is communicated to the migrants and the communities that will receive them. What if FL and MA communicated before, so MA will take X amount of migrants? Same with other states?

Dropping them off with little notice, then saying that the communities are "deporting them" (really moving them to a place that can house them all, within the same county) sounds a bit disingenuous.

It's just hardball politics. A couple of Republican governors wanted to make Democrats look ugly and hypocritical and succeeded. Democrats know they've already lost that part of the fight ("face", politics), and are casting about for ways to pick up some kind of "win".

Or, some of them realized (however they realized it isn't really the point) that the GOP governors who did it may be breaking some laws.

Hardball politics or not, if laws are broken, then the judicial branch of the govt should go after the law-breakers.

If what I quoted above comes to pass and those migrants do become citizens through the special visa, the GOP literally gifted the Dems new supporters. Plus the Dems can also spin it to say that they have "provided migrants, unwanted in GOP states, opportunity and now will become full-fledged US citizens."

That's a bit of an oops on the GOP.

Congress should go after the president for over-reaching his authority with student loan forgiveness. There's so much that "could be" done if people responsible for enforcement weren't so selective about it, and so manifestly partisan about their selections. "Two wrongs don't make a right". True, but it's stupid to the bone to ignore what happens when people convince themselves that the other side always cheats and wins while making demands that their own side give up and lose, wagging fingers and uttering admonishments of "whataboutism". Gosh, why is the US deeply fractured, and what could be done to alleviate that instead of aggravating it?

The relative handful of illegals being moved around for these stunts aren't likely to sway any elections.

The Democrats have chosen lax border controls and left it to the border states and communities to deal with the costs. They don't get to choose everything reaped from what they sow, though.

Well, technically, Biden broke the law by forgiving student loans so...

Can The President Cancel All Federal Student Loans?

The President does not have the legal authority to forgive student loans on his own. Only Congress has the power of the purse. Executive action can be used only when it has been specifically authorized by Congress.

The issue is few congresses have been willling to call out overreaching and unsupported Exec Orders for what they are. So ‘mission creep’ has corroded Executive Orders, and both parties are guilty of that.

Biden opened the borders to millions of illegal aliens. He is completely responsible for any fall out, whether by democrats or republicans. It is all on Biden 100%. Had he stuck to Trump’s immigration policies, they wouldn't be in this mess at all. He was spiteful and cancelled Trumps initiatives because of pride and hate, not because his ideas were better. In fact, he has been taken to task repeatedly for his wishy washy, pandering policies. Biden is to blame for every failure of his administration. Not Trump, not Republicans and not many democrats, who appear to shifting their votes away from the party. He has disenfranchised the majority of US citizens with either his inaction on thing affecting the US economy or his overboard attacks on the Constitution.

Oh, and selling US strategic oil reserves to Red China through a broker connected to Hunter's ChiCom consultancy, thereby helping to make the Red China strategic oil reserves the largest in the world.

I’m not a President Biden fan, but let’s be honest - there where some security reasons for selling China the oil, WRT Ukraine.
Which is after all one of the reasons for having the Reserve in the first place to use for a tool of influence.

None of which is relevant to whether or not offences were committed by state authorities who used deception to take advantage of asylum claimants with legal status in the country. There’s now a criminal investigation underway and a lawsuit filed in relation to DeSantis’ little stunt the other day. It’ll be interesting to see how the chips fall on this. I struggle to imagine any justification for what the governor of state A should spend state tax dollars to essentially traffic people from state B to state C when there’s no state A nexus.

Maybe they looked at the historical consequences of oil embargo's on Japan.

I just think its funny that the Blue states were cool with open borders until illegal aliens started showing up in places like Martha's Vineyard.

Champagne socialists, the lot.

Why? I mean why do YOU, a Canadian and member of the CAF, hope that some blue states north of the border receive more immigrants from the southern border?
