U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

I would not want to work in the US military.
I have worked with US Army infantry and armoured. I have also worked with US marines infantry. Definitely some ups and downs.

I would rather work with marine infantry than US Army grunts. The marines maintained a very hard ass (not always smart though) attitude and drank the kool-aid. I kind of like a hard charging attitude in grunts, makes a platoon run better.

I was thinking of more their career-oriented attitude and just plain dumb stuff they do.

Up and Out works for them because they have so many people (although that’s changing). But, they lose the folks who want to specialize and turn wrenches.

On the officer side, the vast majority of them have Masters and some have PhDs. But…not because they want them, but because everyone else has one and they don’t want to lose their jobs.

Their “presenteeism” is stupid too. For us, if there’s nothing to do, we leave. For them (and this goes for all branches I’ve worked with), they show up at X time and leave at Y time. They could be on their phone the entire time, for all they care.

I was always impressed that they all dressed exactly the same in the field, down to the right angle flashlight on the left shoulder strap, like recruits.... or stormtroopers.

Being pirates, we could barely manage the same headgear... ;)

:ROFLMAO: I recall when I took over as a company commander in the Camerons and saw my 30-man company for our first FTX (and we actually had about an 80% + turn out for exercises so you can see how low our strength actually was).

"Pirates" is a particulalry apt description. Must be a highlander thing. The RWR at the other end of the parade square were usually a bit more formally dressed for the field.

Do you and I get bonus points for making this yet another reserve force uniform thread????

🍻

Dude... I was talking about the British Regular Army... but:

Ill Allow It GIF

Here's a thought. How about we take the northern two thirds of Maine, all of Michigan, and everything north of 45 degrees 75 minutes north from Lake Michigan to the Columbia River and the rest of Washington State and call it even.

When I was in the RWR we started to look a bit more "piratish" too.

The question would be, what is to be done with Southern Ontario and Atlantic Canada?
We can find a use for Southern Ontario (maybe not the people), but Atlantic Canada, well from a sheer border security issue - we will take everything (inc part of Quebec) south of the St Laurence and Ottawa Rivers-- we will give Newfoundland back to the UK, maybe the Welsh can understand them?

If we took Washington State and down to the Columbia River, the Republicans would likley go for that. As would the Eastern half of Oregon which is already trying to cede from the other half.

It'll never happen. Lose lose. The Republicans will never win an election again and most Canadians will see their standards of living decrease. Have fun with those copays. The real concerning aspect of this whole spat is how many traitors there are in Canada that would sell out their country for no real gain (unless you're rich, then I suppose it's logical treason at least).

I for one would enjoy my 12 minutes of terrorism against the invader before inevitably getting drone striked but alas "ours is not to reason why".

According to a headline I read 13% of those surveyed like the idea of being the 51st state.

Doesn't sound like much enthusiasm for it among women.

The demographic breakdowns show there’s higher support among men, at 19%, compared with only 7% of women.
