Trump administration 2024-2028

I have said this for a while - we - The West - give far too much to people and places that bite us in the ass, then we ask "why y'all do that to us? Aren't we friends? "

Foreign aid is fine (and it needs to be reviewed here and elsewhere) - just be careful which foreigners you give it to.
One criteria for foreign aid in my book would be this very simple test - 'Do you have a nuclear bomb? If yes, then no aid for you'. Because if China, India and Pakistan can afford to spend billions on developing/expanding/improving/maintaining nuclear weapons, then you have the money and the resources to take better care of your people.

Wonder if PP will implement something similar if he manages to get elected.

Hope so. But fixing the bureaucracy goes hand in had. Things like a more simple tax code, easier procurement system etc. The GoC should assume more risk in lower dollar procurements for example - far too risk adverse and far to many hoops to jump.

Adding to the homeless population...

I believe that in may cases, Foreign Aid is really just the US way of bribing nations to get what they want, or turn a blind eye to what they are doing in their country. The down side is they don't track what the money is really used for, which leads in many cases to individuals growing their personal wealth as opposed to aiding those in need (where this is actually required). China, on the other hand, tends to put its foreign aid in to actual infrastructure projects that while still making some people rich, also can improve the lives of the local populations (I know, not always, especially where they bring in their own manpower and supplies).

this I like - lets add a forensic accounting of the money we taxpayers give other nations and how it is distributed.

Come to think of it lets have a complete accounting of our OWN money....that past GoCs have seen fit to give away to other nations and corporations.

How many refugees is the US planning to take in? Will they lead by example?
Trump thrives on chaos. The more there is the greater the need for an authoritarian government to deal with the problem.

only if coupled with a restructuring plan, if we just hand out pink slips, we will still have the same ineffective civil service
Agreed. But voluntary WFA will yield a lot of volunteers. Last round a buddy of mine was WFAed and he went on the alternation and people offered him cash to switch. 7k was the highest offer he got from someone wanting to switch.

West Point shuts down clubs for women and students of color in response to Trump’s DEI policies
The U.S. Military Academy has disbanded a dozen West Point cadet clubs centered on ethnicity, gender, race and sexuality in response to the Trump administration's push to eliminate diversity programs throughout government.

The famed military academy in New York issued a memo Tuesday shutting down groups including the Asian-Pacific Forum Club, Latin Cultural Club, National Society of Black Engineers Club and Society of Women Engineers Club in order to adhere to recent guidance from the Army and Defense Department. It also shut down the Corbin Forum, a decades-old leadership club for female cadets, and Spectrum, a gay-straight alliance.

Not sure if this is good or bad.

The Latin Cultural Club's membership probably consisted of 50% single white dudes. Hardly seems like a big bad DEI initiative.

If he was going to take this approach (and my current guess he wouldn’t), he wouldn’t have to offer the buyout to every public servant. Changing the highest levels of bureaucratic management might be enough.

Could be a targeted approach. Using the current rules anyone within a certain window can get severance and early pension. A lot of those people would jump at that.

A rational approach to waste/fraud/abuse is to study the programs, identify those outside the "lane", and turn them off. However, this approach requires commitment to transparency and co-operation, because the burden of proof/work is on the cleanup crew.

If program opponents have to wade through obstructionism just to get the data in order to identify questionable programs, and then more obstructionism to turn off the programs, then they're likely to just flip the burden: "F*ck it, burn it all. You guys can start over."

I hear an implied threat to Canada on another front, Haiti. Seems like they think Canada should do more, likley unaware of our previous presence there.
