I agree. It seemed like an ambush.if you watch the entire press conference, it feels like vance was trying to bait the entire thing into a fight deliberately.
I think we need to fully understand that Trump will be coming for us next - he will think that we are an easy mark and attacking us via Tariffs and belittling us will help him repair his image within the US. Things may get pretty bad for us.if you watch the entire press conference, it feels like vance was trying to bait the entire thing into a fight deliberately.
Its clear the administration tone for its term is to bully and insult allies, any Canadian PM better be prepared to fact check them on the spotI think we need to fully understand that Trump will be coming for us next - he will think that we are an easy mark and attacking us via Tariffs and belittling us will help him repair his image within the US. not a good look, meeting was going well until Vance jumped in, and essentially caused an international argument in front of the media
Foreign adversaries including Russia and China have recently directed their intelligence services to ramp up recruiting of US federal employees working in national security, targeting those who have been fired or feel they could be soon, according to four people familiar with recent US intelligence on the issue.
The intelligence indicates that foreign adversaries are eager to exploit the Trump administration’s efforts to conduct mass layoffs across the federal workforce – a plan laid out by the Office of Personnel Management earlier this week.
Russia and China are focusing their efforts on recently fired employees with security clearances and probationary employees at risk of being terminated, who may have valuable information about US critical infrastructure and vital government bureaucracy, two of the sources said. At least two countries have already set up recruitment websites and begun aggressively targeting federal employees on LinkedIn, two of the sources said.
Alot of Euro's in London, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw and such will be working all weekend over this.Ukraine and Zelenskyy are fucked because the only thing keeping them alive is the US. If he disagrees too loudly with those two then they're going to act like an abusive husband controlling their wives bank card. Or insulin.
I wouldn't be surprised if in the long run it's safer for Ukraine to fall under Russia if only to get out from under Trumps boot.
Ummm....I'm thinking probably not...in case you've forgottenUkraine and Zelenskyy are fucked because the only thing keeping them alive is the US. If he disagrees too loudly with those two then they're going to act like an abusive husband controlling their wives bank card. Or insulin.

The Bucha massacre was the mass murder of Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war by the Russian Armed Forces during the fight for and occupation of the city of Bucha as part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Photographic and video evidence of the massacre emerged on 1 April 2022 after Russian forces withdrew from the city.
According to local authorities, 458 bodies have been recovered from the town, including nine children under the age of 18. Among the victims, 419 people were killed with weapons and 39 appeared to have died of natural causes, possibly related to the occupation. A memorial wall was installed in Bucha with 501 names of killed residents. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights documented the unlawful killings, including summary executions, of at least 73 civilians in Bucha. Photos showed corpses of civilians, lined up with their hands bound behind their backs, shot at close range. An inquiry by Radio Free Europe reported the use of a basement beneath a campground as a torture chamber. Many bodies were found mutilated and burnt, and girls as young as fourteen reported being raped by Russian soldiers. In intercepted conversations, Russian soldiers referred to these operations involving hunting down people in lists, filtration, torture, and execution as zachistka ("cleansing"). Ukraine has asked the International Criminal Court to investigate what happened in Bucha as part of its ongoing investigation of the invasion to determine whether a series of Russian war crimes or crimes against humanity were committed. The massacre was described by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as genocide.
1. Europe has contributed more than the USA.Ukraine and Zelenskyy are fucked because the only thing keeping them alive is the US. If he disagrees too loudly with those two then they're going to act like an abusive husband controlling their wives bank card. Or insulin.

Trump seems to think that counts as US dollars in his calculations.1. Europe has contributed more than the USA.
Zelensky has stood up to Putin for years. He wasn’t about to get rolled by Trump or Vance.2. No world leader is going to sit there and take the abuse zelensky did
Yep. Zelensky knows this which is why he wants security guarantees. Russia’s word on anything isn’t worth anything.3. We have seen enough mass graves to know surrender means genocide for the Ukrainian people. Anyone associated with the current gov or military will be killed, and the population will be made an example of.
It will be telling to see if there resides any of the old genes of the former British, French and European Empire days still left in the bodies of their leaders because they are going to need every single gene in order for them to get through this with Ukraine in its current state. Canadians just might back a renewed CAF and funding for Ukraine if just to say a giant 'bugger you' to Trump.Trump seems to think that counts as US dollars in his calculations.

I've been a fairly vocal semi-supporter of Trump since his first presidency. I'm still hoping all this behavior is ultimately some kind of shift for a greater good.Ummm....I'm thinking probably not...in case you've forgotten
Yeah. The 40ish countries in Europe have a combined larger contribution to the US.1. Europe has contributed more than the USA.
Nor should they.2. No world leader is going to sit there and take the abuse zelensky did
Yeah that's possible. I'm not arguing Ukraine should surrender, just making an off handed observation of how chaotic and unpredictable Trump is.3. We have seen enough mass graves to know surrender means genocide for the Ukrainian people. Alot of Euro's in London, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw and such will be working all weekend over this.
So what's going to be tipping point for you to no longer be a fairly vocal non-supporter of Trump as a Canadian? The moment a hundred thousand extra CDN's join the unemployment line? The moment the CAD falls below 60 cents? The moment requires CDN's to get a VISA in order to visit the US? Curious to know.I've been a fairly vocal semi-supporter of Trump since his first presidency. I'm still hoping all this behavior is ultimately some kind of shift for a greater good.
Do I think Trump would let a few hundred Ukrainians die to prove a point? Unfortunately it's looking that way to me.
Watch the video. The only thing missing is Vance telling Zelenskyy to give Trump the Bill Clinton special.
Yeah. The 40ish countries in Europe have a combined larger contribution to the US.
Do you think Ukraine has a chance without the US? Considerint some of those European countries probably contributed to Ukraine because Daddy USA said so?
Nor should they.
Yeah that's possible. I'm not arguing Ukraine should surrender, just making an off handed observation of how chaotic and unpredictable Trump is.
GR66 mentioned the Bucha massacre.
That's a good example, and one we shouldn't forget.
One thing Trump said when running for president the first time, ironically when talking about his familiarity with Putin, was "We're not exactly the good guys either" or words to that effect.
Trump seems to think that counts as US dollars in his calculations.
