The War in Ukraine

I updated my post to note that any rational person would demand the 25th be invoked as POTUS is bat shit crazy.
He’s not incapacitated. He’s not medically crazy. He’s simply awful. The 25th wouldn’t apply. In any case, the Vice President is the gatekeeper to invoking the 25th.

Americans voted him in and have empowered him to sell out American strategic interests based on whatever personal motivations he may hold. He has the executive authority to put these foreign affairs policies in place.

The only mechanism I would see applying would be Congress’ power to impeach for high crimes and misdemeanours. I don’t see a sufficient proportion of the House and Senate supporting that.

Zelenskyy has committed what is, to Trump, the ultimate sin: he told Trump ‘No’. Now we will witness the most powerful man in the world apply that power to a tantrum.

Well....

Britain also ran out of money to sustain the Empire as they drained the treasury fighting WW2, and as you note the USA was a big anti-imperialist of course, which contributed to decades of 'Retreat from Empire'.

A cautionary tale if nothing else.

Blighty was still paying off WW1 when the little Cpl decided to annex the Sudetenland and the rest of continental Europe.

But tell us what you really think....

C'mon, now - we know what he really means, right? This is just a good negotiation tactic, right? After all, he says he loves Ukraine, right? 🤦‍♂️

Let's see if anybody in the administration rolls things back now that the main (USSR 2.0?) talking points have been approved by the Head Shed.

I wish I'd been wrong in my hunches, but I join all the others in being saddened at seeing this so clearly and blatantly.

:(

I cry.

A rational Congress would invoke the 25th

How many treaties have American presidents signed?

How many treaties have the Senate ratified?

How many military budgets have survived Congress unscathed?

I still trust in the US and its institutions.

I think the ultimate test would be the rumored defense cuts, its being recommended to cut upto a dozen brigades from the army, two carriers, two amphibious assault ships, all A10s and older F15s which would essentially cut the US military by 1/3, if that doesn't spark national security concerns give how the world is I dont know what would

This man is fucking delusional and is most likely suffering from dementia.

This is the derranged ranting I expect in a nursing home, not from the "leader" of the "Free World."

'Global Leader' is not on America's to do list, and hasn't been for quite some time....

Trump’s view of the world is becoming clear: America’s allies come second to its own interests

What became startlingly clear at the Munich Security Conference was Trump’s new vision of transactional alliances with America’s traditional partners.

In his view, the United States is not so much retreating into isolationism as much as it’s acting as a great power with its own economic interests at heart. Trump is eager for the US to assert its place in a world where spheres of influence matter as much – if not more – than any particular set of rules.

interesting note, Denmark is spending 50 billion to rearm, it wanted to spend 100B but in consultation with industry figured out industry couldn't deliver 100B in arms within the timelines they wanted.
Russian threat for sure but I think they may also be worried about the other power looking at their land…

So, Chat GPT, please assess this text for signs of Russian disinformation or misinformation influences, and provide a rating of how likely it is to be influenced? ;)

Edited to add BLUF:

Assessment:

This text exhibits multiple hallmarks of Russian disinformation narratives:
  • Characterization of Leaders: It refers to Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a "modestly successful comedian" and a "dictator without elections," aiming to delegitimize his authority. This is a common tactic used to undermine Ukrainian leadership.
  • Exaggerated Claims and Conspiracies: The text makes sweeping, unsubstantiated claims—such as the U.S. being manipulated into an unwinnable war, massive missing funds, and attributing war efforts solely to personalities like "TRUMP" versus "Sleepy Joe Biden"—which aligns with typical disinformation strategies that exaggerate and distort facts.
  • Selective Use of Facts and Misleading Comparisons: By claiming that the U.S. spent significantly more than Europe on the war and questioning the fairness of this distribution, the text creates a false narrative that shifts focus from the complexities of international support for Ukraine.
  • Political Partisanship as a Proxy: The narrative heavily leans on partisan insults and polarized figures (e.g., “Sleepy Joe Biden” and “TRUMP”) to foster distrust in mainstream political figures, a technique often used to exploit existing domestic divisions.
Rating of Likelihood of Influence: 9/10

Based on these observations, the text is highly likely (around 9 out of 10) to be influenced by or aligned with Russian disinformation efforts. The narrative structure, choice of language, and the spread of unverified claims match well-documented strategies used in Russian propaganda to undermine support for Ukraine and to cast doubt on the motives of Western political leaders.

Well apparently another aspect from the "negotiations" was to sell out all new NATO members.
Apparently US Military will be removed from Poland, Kosovo (ignoring treaty obligations) and elsewhere in Europe...
So Putin is coming...
It’s one thing to think he’s out of touch or incompetent but now I’d say this looks deliberate.
