Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

Who said anything about being embarrassed.
I can't think of any other reason you'd be opposed to having a unit or RCAF centennial patch on an RCAF uniform.

The patches aren't sponsors, so it's not like NASCAR...

It’s the “I have enough time in to get the old stuff” line of thinking, which kind of falls apart if new folks are also getting issued the old stuff. The current CADPAT fits better and you don’t look like a tied sausage, whether you were thin or not.

Now, I wonder how many RCN folks purposely keep their old NCDs rather than switch to the NECUs.
I honestly regret switching. I liked the look and feel of the old NCD's better. And frankly, the lack of pockets made me feel less stupid about the amount of time it took to check myself over if something went missing.

I bet clothing stores still has old stock if you ask nicely... I go the old jacket in Esquimalt back in March, before switching to NCEU two days later.

I call it “the local pub” but whatever works I guess.

My positive space patch idea may not end up as popular as the airforce ball caps but but I should still get a point or two for inclusive behavior.
You need to engage in more self reflection.

silly question. Is the old jacket not still THE jacket? I thought the new thing with all the pockets was a shirt? I kept both of mine because i thought they were going to carry over.

The new shirt is two layers, so there is no jacket. The old system of a t-shirt, shirt, and double layer jacket was overkill... We were trying to make our daily uniform bunker gear.

One of the best things for CCUE will be the 2” increments instead of the current 4” increments. Fewer “too big or too small” sizes for people like me.

I believe that the US military uniforms are in 2” increments which is one reason why they look better, irrespective of body size. If you’re fit and your shirt fits normally vs like a tent, it’ll look better.
It depends: Tops’s, both the old Paraclete SOFBDU was in 4” and the current Crye SOF issue stuff is 4” as well. Pants were 2” in both as well.

There is also a female cut uniform as well

I believe Big Army has the same setup, but unsure.

The kids call it “flexing” :sneaky:

I spoke to the Logistik project manager of the operational clothing & equipment for the SOCEM / CCUE (Canadian Combat Uniform Ensemble). He spent 22 years in the Army before working there, and remains a member of the militia (IE still invested) and is both very enthusiastic and very pleased with results from this programme so far. It's clear as well that his team was committed to making sure that there was mass buy in from all of the troops. The patrol pack & ruck for instance are purpose built to accomodate body armour and plates; everything is being done with proper testing and feedback.

The kit displayed was all Gen 0. They've since moved on to Gen 1, where it will be fielded to around 3,000 personnel. Following more adjustments, they'll move onto the next generation and so far. Not sure when this is going to be issued broadly.

I know from looking up CCUE on ACIMS the other day that there are massive problem with the National Procurement (NP) budget which is impeding rapid expansion of this programme, and is essentially keeping lights on. Until it is fully funded, it will likely be very sluggish, unfortunately.
