Pro/Anti Child Bearing Policies (split from "Canada don’t matter" thread)

Al can afford nannies and bodyguards.

Or 30 year old ex-girlfriends.

As of September, Pacino is ordered to pay $30,000 a month in child support. In addition to that base amount, Pacino will pay "an additional Ostler/Smith percentage of 6% of Respondent’s 'annual gross income' in excess of $2,500,000 per calendar year."

The paperwork also makes stipulations for the infant's future, stating that Pacino will contribute "the sum of $15,000 per year, commencing in 2023, to a 529 account to be established on behalf of Roman ... for purposes of Roman's educational expenses or such other expense as the Parties mutually agree."

This idea from USSR 2.0 ....
“Childfree propaganda is a socially dangerous phenomenon. The Americans are promoting this. Our country is vast and their [U.S.] ideology is dangerous. Under no circumstances should it be allowed to spread.”

These were the words of Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament, as he justified proposed legislation imposing heavy fines on what the authorities see as the destructive promotion of “childfree ideology.”

But experts argue that this legislation, which is currently under review by lawmakers and passed its first reading on Thursday, is “repressive” and fails to address the root issues behind the country’s flagging birth rates.

Since launching the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian authorities have ramped up their efforts to promote so-called traditional values and family-oriented ideals, contrasting Russia with the more liberal West ...

Regarding the above,

fecundability (the ability of a woman to get pregnant) peaks at age 20 and has already dropped by 2/3 by age 33.

Does not look great for love between 18 - 29 year old women and men.

Women can fix that fertility issue by harvesting and freezing their eggs. Which they should do in their 20's if they think they might want a family in the future

How they choose the sperm for those eggs i leave up to them

Convenient for women.

Not sure how men and children would feel about that.

We relied on the more old-fashioned method of creating our family.

Perhaps this is the Brave New World we read about. 🤷‍♂️

better than not being able to get pregnant at 32 or 35

As much as I struggle with my daughter getting engaged at 20, with the idea of having kids by 28. My wife and I also know many very nice women who are now in their 30's and have no kids or long term mate. They want to settle down and have kids, but the men in their age group are looking for wives in their 20's and the men in their 40's looking for a woman in their 30's likley are divorced , have kids or are not looking for them.
A big part of this is that modern North American women have unrealistic expectations for a mate and it is almost impossible for a young male to have a house or a place to attract a mate with the current housing problems. So males in their 20's are not thinking about kids till they are 35ish.

Because I'm not a Child Psychologist.

As far as traditional courtship of women goes, perhaps, "Your body, my choice" turned some off enough to go the sperm donor route.

it doesnt mean their isnt a father in the picture. It just means they are putting young eggs in an older body

why?

Woman freezes eggs. Woman finds sperm. Woman gets egg fertilized and implanted. Woman gives birth
It is simply human nature that the 'finding sperm' part is fraught with emotional, hormonal and cultural baggage. In addition, it can be costly (certainly compared to the more 'natural way') and doesn't always work the first time, which can add to both emotional and financial stress.

Our daughter just had a kid at 35 after a couple of false starts. She was about a year older than the missus when we had her. With us, we simply married late; with them, they have been married for about 10 year - it was more career and financial stability. There is no denying that the clock is ticking though. A few missed 'opportunities' in your 20s usually don't matter much, but into your 30s they become more significant. The upside is medical science, testing, scanning, etc. have been able to remove a lot of the negative implications of late births.

I was 35 and 37 when my sons were born. My wife was 33 and 35. In the 50s and 60s we would have been labelled dinosaurs. My father was 31 and my mother was 30 in the early 70s when I was born, that was considered late. My Grandfather had his 8 kids between ages 26-40. There is definitely a change in cultural "norms" of having children in the western civilizations.
Now the Mennonites that live in my area (LOTS!) you could could win bets that the women have several children going by age 21. However thats a unique culture within our culture.

but women can remove almost all their fertility concerns on their side by using their younger eggs that they have harvested earlier leaving only the how of finding the sperm necessary. Removing the old eggs removes a large part of the failure rate of IVF

True, but I'm not sure many people in their 20s are doing that level of planning. 'Hoping for the best but planning for the worst' doesn't seem too prevalent in human nature certainly among young people. Besides, unless it is done because of an existing medical condition i don't think it is a covered procedure (at least in Ontario), so $$.
