So I guy I know was injured in 2006 had shoulder surgery to repair damage.
Was suffering from hip pain since the same injury...saw an orthopedic surgeon...had an MRI...nothing....finally three years later (after physio after physio after physio after physio) saw a physiatrist (some sort of specialist) and was booked in for an arthrogram...indicated an acetabular labrum tear (Czerny stage 2).  Recommeded for surgery, however surgeon is in London ontario and wait time is at least one year.  Member is supposedly promoted and posted to CFJSR.  He has not been placed on any sort of category (do not know why not).
How does the Career Manager get informed of this?  Would this stop the promotion? and the posting?
Can anyone provide some info from the Medical standpoint.

Thanks in advance (for my friend) :-)

Friend??  Really??  You seem to know a lot about his condition.  Your "friend" would not be put on a category if one wasn't required.  People can be in some amount of pain constantly and still perform all of their duties, PT, etc.  The CM would not be informed unless the member was on a category and couldn't be promoted/posted because of it.

Also, just because one doesn't get promoted, doesn't mean they can't get posted.

Does this have anything to do with your post here?

The CM would be notified through peoplesoft once your your friend's medical catagory change (form 2088) was processed and inputed. Without that change the CM can only find out about it through the RSM or tech rep.

If you your friend is still able to do all military duties req'd of him and can still complete fitness testing, then there is no need for a change of medical category.

What medical info are you looking for, that your specialist has not already told you?

I see more specialists soon, so more information should be provided then.

Thanks for the info.  I was just seeking some insight.

Someone told me that you can get promoted on a Temporary Category but not promoted on a Permanent Category.  Is that true?

Maybe I won't get put on any category til after surgery, who knows....

Hopefully after you have fully recovered physically, you can start working on that whole "honesty" business.

Wasn't this story about a "freind" ?

;)

Oops, caught me...
Guess that "accident" messed up more than a shoulder and hip...can't keep a story straight...hahaha.

Thanks for some info everyone.

What they ^ said - except a little less politely.  If you're so concerned that you feel you, um, your "friend", needs a category, why haven't you, oops, your friend brought it up with your, sorry again, their MO?

Your career manager isn't privy to your medical history - only the forms that come across their desks informing them of long term medical employment limitations.  I suppose you could tell them during a career manager interview - they'd still want something on paper though.

If a temporary category was to be imposed, it could delay the promotion if the medical employment limitations were outside of trade specs and possibly the posting, but that's the CM's decision though based on the MEL's.

Person concerned won't likely get a category unless the specialist reccomended one, you(theyr)'re quite incapcitated or until they are post op and a few months or more are required to recover.

Hope you get well.

If you can't be honest with us while asking for advice, how can we expect to answer properly? How do we now know your telling the whole truth of the matter?

Best go away and look up integrity. A person with your time in pulling a stunt like this. Have a good soul search and if you come back, do it honestly and openly.
