Help requested to identify weapon

Does anyone know what weapon these soldiers are holding? They look like G36C but there are some small details that are differ from the G36 series.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's Mexico's new weapon.  Based on the G36, it's called the Quetzacotle or something like that.

Do a search on Militaryphotos net and you should come up with some info.

Best guess... Spanish army G36C.  One reference I read stated that the sight was integral to the carry handle so maybe that's it.

ps. Hey mods how bout we move this to "name the weapon" it's been quiet for a month now.

Beat me out of the blocks.  The troops look more Mexican than Spanish any way.

G36 is nice, but the only thing of value it really adds is a folding stock, easier cleaning and the ability to load a drum mag. The translucent mag idea is neat too. Not worth changing a weapons platform as of yet.

Great for carrying boxes home from the mall.

Is it just me or is that soldier's weapon in that picture on single shot / full auto?  It certainly isn't on Safe if they use the same Icon's and colours as HK!

You can see the fellow's behind him is set to the White icon (safe).

The clear magazine also appears to have rounds in it...wonder if they are blanks?

Fun parade if he has an accidental discharge  ;D

Or...... maybe he doesn't have a round chambered and therefore cannot engage the safety.
