The area around Winnipeg international Airport is chock a block with warehouses with massive parking lots and railines.
I don't suppose any of those would be useful ?

You err, Sir. Winnipeg does qualify for compliance with that policy.
Winnipeg enters the chat.....

And abandon Minto and McGregor Armories!!! BLASPHEMER!!!!! SACRILEGE!!!! HERESY!!!!

I would keep them as regimental and brigade/ District HQs.
Honestly I am not overly fond of that idea. The buildings are old, decrepit and about ready to pack it in. They have been upgraded about as much as possible.
But lets keep throwing good money into them because......heritage.

Setting aside which ancient piles of bricks are about to fall over, and which ones have life in them: why is the CAF paying for storefront space for recruiters in areas with multiple reserve facilities (and a CFB, in Victoria)?

Ease of access?

How many civies are intimidated by the Commissionaire at the gatehouse before they learned better? ✋

The ones I'm thinking of are effectively storefront operations, right on the street. CSCOTR, MALAHAT, 39 Service Battalion, Seaforth, and BCR are all street adjacent; expect that's the case elsewhere, too; and are all (with the possible exception of the BCRs) in neighbourhoods no worse than the local CFRCs.

The territoriality of many Reserve units, and the Imperative of keeping offices for one evening a week means CFRCs take the path of least resistance.

Perhaps its not the bricks but the overhead and branding.

The Saginaw Fusiliers may have had a full Battalion strength in the last war, but we are commiting time, money, and effort for them to parade at a Platoon minus strength.

Consolidate, amalgamate, combine heritage, and make our reserve system make sense to administer. The buildings mean less when your regiment is "new".

I'm a Signals Officer and I still am appalled at the state of Vimy Barracks and feel the bulk of it needs to be torn down to it's foundations and rebuilt from scratch. Instead, either by funding or nostalgia, we train LEO Satellite theory in a former horse stable.

I thought that was a RCMP requirement? ;)

Between Oriole, the Skyhawks and the Snowbirds, the Reg F is equally efficient at wasting money...

I have my gripes about those as well.

We are penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to "attraction" initiatives in thinking those things mentioned above bring Joe and Jane Civi through the doors of the CFRC.

Moreso, I would have rathered see the money spent on the TD, Maint, and PYs for those initiatives go towards hiring more staff for DGDS to process files so Joe and Jane are in uniform within the calendar year of applying.
