Anyone here have a MAC?

I've played with the power settings but as of yet I can't seem to prevent my Mac from going to sleep (or whatever its called) when I close the lid.  I would like the programs to keep running when I close the lid.  Is that possible?

doing a quick search it appears you need your laptop to be connected to an external display, keyboard and mouse to do this, though this dude found a work around for using it with his TV

this seems to be one of the times where Mac limits your options to fool proof something.

here is a link from apple http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286

you might be able to get dummy plugs that signal to your laptop that there is a display/keyboard/mouse connected.

in windows it would be

right clicking the desktop,
selecting properties,
in the display dialog that pops up you would select screen saver tab,
click power options
select the advanced tab
set close lid to "do nothing" which means the laptop would really do nothing other than turn off the backlight on the monitor regardless of whats connected to it.

I would look around for something similar but it looks like the mac laptops are designed to go to sleep on closing the lid unless it's connected to a monitor/keyboard/mouse and plugged into an external power source

*shaking head at apple in amusement*  :)

I think I confused you.  What I would like to do is say, run a download program say torrent with the lid being closed.  Presently when I try to do this it puts the computer to sleep.

That's like making sure the fridge light is out when you close the door....how do you Know?  :)

Try InsomniaX. I asked a couple of buddies and they recommended it.
