Occam’s Razor would suggest that three govts’ efforts to keep a conspiracy under wraps for 8 years, and roping in the entire US Govt to do so, is exponentially harder than someone who sided with Putin in 2018 over the FBI’s own election interference efforts.

Which they are having extreme problems doing. So far, they are unable to prove anything they've alleged. All three Trump trials are dismantling themselves before our eyes. There's so much going wrong with the prosecutors and their cases, that the cases likely won't see court before the election, if they happen at all. However, I'll wait until all the prosecutorial malfeasance is exposed, to judge those shitshows.

I'm wondering what the crime is... And so are a lot of legal minds on both sides of the aisle. Steps to protect a reputation are normal, especially in the US with prominent people. Catch/Kill or NDAs happen as a routine with those kinds of folks. This trial has one purpose and that is to sully Trump's image... Whether Trump had a relationship or not with a porn star is not going to impact support at this point. It's a desperate angle. I forecast the next phase of 'operation ruin Trump' is there will be a new allegation he raped Stormy. I mean, she did state she "passed out", so was there consent in this alleged interaction? That's coming next.

Are we talking about the same trial? The Daniels trial is happening right now, and she just took the stand yesterday and continuing tomorrow. She likely isn’t the only witness to take the stand either, so it won’t be a fast one.

The point of the trial isn’t that he had an affair with her while married to Melania. The point is, as per WaPo:

The jury must decide whether Trump falsified financial documents related to the hush money payment to Daniels, and whether he did it in an effort to conceal election-related crimes.

Even democrat law scholars say this case is garbage and are condemning it. It serves one purpose, especially with the ridiculous gag order. It keeps Trump from campaigning effectively. They know they won't win, which is why they decided to extend it another three weeks, even though they have nothing to offer. The Daniels testimony hurt the prosecution and Cohen's will likely destroy it.

You and I have very different take aways.

What I’ve seen is that Trump paid to have embarrassing fiction printed against his opponents, while also paying off an adult film actress who he had an affair with to try to keep his image from being tarnished while having others being tarnished.

It’s hard to have a free and fair election when all candidates are resorting to dirty tricks and lies to the public.

Won't be the first time. Mind, we get along everywhere else but here

I'm not going to try convince or cajole anyone by offering up motives, evidence etc. I'm just going to watch where it goes.

There's lots of shenanigans by both parties, which like you say, isn't conducive to free and fair elections. Unfortunately, it will take a majority of voters putting their feet down to change it. It can't be left to politicians.
