A Deeply Fractured US

Interesting policy position from Haley. Entitlement reform is likely needed and if done right could be a great thing long term. Something that is needed here (discussed in another thread recently by coincidence).

So far I am liking what Haley is saying and how she is presenting herself
Which is unlike everyone else in the GOP race.

I mean imagine a candidate having policy positions…

Came up working in a family owned and operating business educated in finance and accounting, state legislator, state governor, and ambassador to the UN- she has an interesting and compelling background. The Republicans and America would probably be well served by her as the GOP presidential candidate.

The soft-pedaling when it comes to Biden while salivating at anything Trump is truly entertaining to behold. :ROFLMAO:

She certainly has some background and doesn’t come off as unhinged. Actual policy and not populism is probably why she’s securing the financial backing she is getting and is slowly rising in the polls.

Well, that places her squarely in the camp of Republican policy nutters like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. Republicans have been wanting to do this for quite a while. Good luck bringing Democrats to the table.

10 years to a mandatory 20% benefit cut unless, of course, the Congress of the day simply chooses to borrow more money to cover the gap. Good thing the US has a lot of fiscal room for borrowing.

Dependent upon how it is done, there are some Democrats that could vote for it.

10 years is another Presidents problem…

It’s a soft form of kicking the can down the road, but it’s at least a start to look to the problems we face.

I'm posting this only because I find the choice of interviewee funny. 😁

Notorious mobster Salvatore ‘Sammy the Bull’ Gravano stunned by latest bombshell Hunter Biden allegations: ‘Mind-blowing’

Sen. Bob Menendez and his wife, Nadine, indicted on bribery charges

The New Jersey Democrat and Senate Foreign Relations Committee chair rejected calls for him to resign from Congress. This is his second indictment since becoming a senator.

That leads to this

Senator hires an indicted and ousted representative to troll an indicted senator

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., paid recently expelled Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., to record a video message aimed at Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J. Like Santos, Menendez is under a federal indictment.

And this

After Santos, Why Not Expel Menendez?

Menendez is a crook, that’s been clear for a while. The fact he hasn’t been expelled yet is bad, but he’s still the Senate’s Foreign Relations Chair…

More 2020 election fraud news: Nevada is now the third state to criminally charge its slate of fake Republican electors who attempted to cast electoral college votes for Trump against the actual election results of the state.
Best to wait for the determination of "fake" versus "contingent", unless the intent is to join the baying mob.

Democrats benefited from contingent electors once. They might have to do so again. Add this to the long list of things people are doing in the short term that could cost them long term. I don't see any way for a slate of electors to preserve themselves as "contingent" electors without signing the documents that could put them in legal jeopardy if the lid is nailed shut by contemporary cases.

Trump lost Nevada by over 34,000 votes. That ‘contingent electors’ theory, as applicable to Nevada 2020, is absolutely farcical. There was nothing remotely close to a viable challenge to the election results. Any criminality is only alleged at this point, but sure as hell a group of people put pen to paper claiming to be duly elected when they weren’t. There’s nothing remotely close to a good faith claim to be made that their party actually won the state and that they could make that claim.

Whether this dishonesty was criminal will be determined in court, but let’s not pretend there was any validity to people claiming to be electors who weren’t.

Good to know we can gauge the worth of any claim by counting votes, and not actually inquiring into events.

[Add: the whole point of contingent electors is to produce a document by a required deadline, in case the document is needed later. In principle, there should be no objection to the slate of electors for any candidate, regardless of circumstances, without having to give any reasons whatsoever, formally meeting and producing the document subject to the understanding that the document isn't used unless the candidate to which they are pledged wins the vote count certified by the state.]

Say that again, but slowly.

Yes, you’ve got it - counting votes is in fact how elections are supposed to work. That’s literally the point. A struggle on the part of some to accept that is what got us here.

The Nevada fake electors signed their certificate on December 14th. That’s a problem for them because they had already sued to reverse the results and award the election to them, or to annul the election. State district court dismissed that lawsuit December 4th, and the state Supreme Court affirmed this and dismissed their appeal on December 8th. And then six days later they tried to claim in writing that they were elected anyway.

So, whether or not this was criminal remains to be seen, but that’s the basic fact set. Anyone who takes this ‘contingent electors’ nonsense seriously in the case of Nevada is deluding themselves.

And an additional detail that makes this make more sense: Ken Chesebro, Trump’s lawyer who pled guilty in the Georgia RICO election case, has in fact flipped, and assisted Nevada investigators in the past few days.
