Yes. It is still possible to join bmoq at around the 8th week. There are two mods in bmoq. A few of my colleagues from rmc were ex reservists who had many years in and they are joining myself and my other colleagues later on in the course for the second mod.
One thing understood is that it is indeed competitive. Going back to the OP, getting a post-secondary education wouldn't be a bad idea. What do you have to lose? Make yourself more competitive and smarter. Seems like a win win for me.

Well my VIE is 13 years and I'm Signals. My room mate (his trade is Pilot) has his VIE set at 15 years or something. From what I've seen here at RMC, the VIE for Pilot is typically longer than most.
Think about keeping the math course. If by chance you are accepted and sent to RMC or CMR, no matter what first year program you're in, you will take math. Just something to think about.
