Where is the new Scarborough Armoury?

SCARBOROUGH ARMOURY LEASE IS SIGNED

The new interim armoury in Scarborough has been under negotiation for many months.  This month it was announced that a lease has been signed and that the plans agreed upon by the QOR and Area Support Unit Toronto's Construction Engineers, will be put out to tender.  The target date of 1 Sept 2005, is still achievable and ASU Toronto will pull out all stops with a phased construction where the QM, weapons lockup and offices will be completed without the need to go to tender.  The offices are already 90% complete.  The classrooms and mess will be put to tender and there is great hope that this too can be completed.  If not, the parade square is ready to go now.  The CO will have the battalion muster parade at Moss Park on Sept 14, and it is likely that Buffs Company will march into Scarborough for it's fall training program.

Just north of Scarborugh Town Center and the 401, in commercial/industrial district, the place looks really nice, really small parade square though unfortunately

I believe it is the old C.O. Bick Police Academy on Finch Avenue. Sounds like one of those shared deals with the local Police Service.

No. Not shared with the police. The landlord operates a business out of the right side of the building and the armoury will be on the other side.  The landlord may be doing the renovations with aide of CE's design and specs with contractors we know.  The other options are to tender throught Defence Construction Canada or cut it into small projects and get CBO to do some of it.  The office area was already part of the building so no construction (or minimal) will be needed.  Nothing is written in stone yet by any means.  The lease however is signed.

The details within the lease are finalized.  Construction is a completely seperate issue.

As of today, it looks like construction will go through the landlord, which will definately save time to get the unit going in Sept.

At least you guys can practice some OBUA in the surrounding areas, when the police don't want to go in themselves.

Just watch out, I think the local populace is better armed than we are...

The Dalton Armoury is located at 37 Mid-Dominion Acres in Scarborough. It is off of Milner avenue, between Markham and McCowen roads. It is operational now, housing Buffs Company of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. The official grand opening is on Saturday, 22 April 2006. There will be a Regimental parade and lots of high speed demonstrations and stands. It is an open house so anyone interested is welcome. The event starts at 11oo hrs and the ceremony at the Armoury is scheduled for 1300 hrs. See you there.
