U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

I was thinking like the EU. You know, the one more then half you people championed when Brexit was all the rage?

So, a common currency, a legislature with certain overriding legislative authority over the existing American and Canadian legislatures, free residency and immigration between the two, and complete duty-free movement of goods and services? Anything significant you’d like to see that I’m missing?

Tucker put it this way back in Jan., 2023,

Why are we not sending an armed force north to liberate Canada from Trudeau? And I mean it.

Readers may recall Tucker was a vocal supporter of the “Freedom Convoy”.

It continues to be an interesting topic.

For those highly critical of Brexit. Why completely opposed to any kind of Cdn/US union?

Still trying to get a sense of what you mean by that. Did I sum it up accurately or did I miss anything significant?

I’m prepared to continue with the conversation from there once we have that definition reasonably firm.

I'm sure Kevin would promote that with The Donald. The US won't even sign on to most treaties.

"Give a common currency, figure out taxes across the board, get everything trading both ways, create a new, almost EU-like passport. I like this idea, and at least half of Canadians are interested.

. . .

The 41 million Canadians, I think most of them would trust me on this deal.”

I doubt most of us would trust Mr. Wonderful to sell us a used car.

Be interesting to know how over 41 million Canadians feel about turning their ten provinces and three territories ( the world's second-largest country by total area ) with the world's longest coastline, into one U.S. state under President Trump.

I, as just one of 41 million, am dead set against it in any shape or form. I only hope that the majority of Canadians will stand up to, not only Trump, but all the Canadian federal, provincial and municipal politicians who have sold us down the river. We owe it to ourselves as well as those who worked hard and those who fought and died to make this a great country. We may not be the country we had been but the U.S. isn’t the country it had been either, otherwise Trump wouldn’t have campaigned to Make America Great Again.

I speak as someone who was born in the U.S. and, while I love to go back and visit, I think that Canada, despite its many imperfections, is still a great country. Unfortunately all too many of those Canadians who trash Canada seem to think that everything is better in the U.S.

Are you now? What makes you think I’m interested in this discussion with you? There are plenty of others on here who are happy to have dialogue without an arrogant approach.

…because when I first asked earlier, politely and reasonably, you replied, also politely and reasonably? It partly but didn’t fully answer my question so I asked to make sure I understood what you were saying and whether I was missing anything.

If you were interested before and are not now, that’s fine. Just working with what you gave me to work with.
