Poppycock. The average voter doesn't understand complicated economic issues especially at the international scale. The number of people who think inflation means "the price of things" or who think tarrifs are the tax on foreign countries is astounding. They don't understand how a war started between two countries oversees could have a significant impact on the cost of their gas and food at home. These problems are complexe and the solutions to these problems are complex as well.
But, it wouldn't actually matter if the Dems laid out the simplest solution to these problems because people have been lied to about what the cause of their problems are and have been presented a bunch of BS solutions that will not actually help them.

Best case scenario: it doesn't actually happen. Either Trump was consciously lying to earn votes, or he finally looks at the numbers and realizes "fuck that's not going to work" and ends up doing nothing more than slightly increasing the number of deported people considered "dangerous".
Worst case scenario: he tries to do it but it won't work out as henpromised. It's too complexe, too expensive, and too manpower intensive to try and deport 13-25 million people. He arrests hundreds of thousands, maybe a couple million, but the process to actually get them out of the country is long and expensive, and a lot of countries simply refuse to take such large groups of people. So what does he do with them in the interim? Well there's not enough time or money to build adequate detention centers for them all, so instead you get a whole bunch of open air gulags along the southern border akin to the Japanese internment camps of WW2.

Frankly, the vast majority, yes. Most of these people are hard working and law abiding (other than, you know, entering the country illegally) and they contribute 10s of billions of dollars in tax revenue.
The US as a sovereign state can decide to do what ever it wants, mostly.
It’s a bit complex. It is like a “it depends” scenario and isn’t just black and white or yes or no.
By all means deport the criminal element. I think everyone in the US is onboard with that.

In many cases they use forged numbers and pay into the system, but are never able to draw benefits.
The best way to crack down on illegals is to go after the operations that employ them. But the agriculture industry would fight tooth and nail against being held accountable for their employment of illegals.

Not currently, but the theory is that if you made certain changes to laws that could make Federal Offenses out of some, that would greatly increase the ability to do that, as then ‘sanctuary areas’ would be violating federal laws, and then their political leaders and LEA leadership would be complicit…
All depends on what sort of offense it is.
Most are actively recruiting currently due to being unmanned now.

E-Verify is in place in most employers now, so numbers are linked to names - it’s not that easy. Most illegals are cash employed— so no taxes and no records.
Not just Agriculture, the construction business, and the food service industry (hey those dishes aren’t going to wash themselves).
There needs to be a legitimate pathway to citizenship for those people. If not for any other reason than just so we can tax them

Kevin, I'm surprised you're not better informed on this. There are in fact three ways that undocumented illegal immigrants pay taxes.
1. Pay-roll taxes. Lots of people employ illegal immigrants and deduct taxes from their pay whether those immigrants file taxes or not.
2. Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN). Basically a substitute for a SSN that allows illegal immigrants to file taxes without a SSN. While not created for illegal immigrants, according to the IRS, it is used more by illegal Immigrants than anyone else.
3. Sales tax. These people are spending their money on rent, groceries, gas, etc, and paying taxes throughout.
In 2022, illegal immigrants paid a combined $96.7 BILLION in federal, state, and local taxes.

The books don’t work there if one is audited.
It sounds like a cute briefing note, but in reality the only taxes that get paid in that situation are where the business cannot deduct all of the cost of labor from their income and pay higher taxes themselves. Which is why a lot of businesses need to find some sort of money laundering solution to reduce their taxes.
TIN’s are used for businesses, ITIN’s are supposed to be used to deconflict SSN’s and you cannot get aTIN or ITIN without it being linked to a SSN.
I will give you that.

The US can really do anything they want and no one for a few light years can stop them. Not sure the context you mean?
Going after the criminal element first is a great plan. That should consume Trumps time long enough until he's out of office - and the US would be all the better for it.
I don't relish the idea of good hard working people getting caught up in that drag net, but at the same time they're still in the US illegally. Americans aren't monsters for supporting deportation of illegal immigrants.

Agreed. But that assumes that all Americans are watching/reading the same material, with the same bias.
Social media and the MSM have firmly become “Dem” or “GOP” aligned. Take a look at Fox’s coverage vs CNN’s coverage of the exact same event, and note the headlines. The Jon Stewart ep I listed above mentions it a bit but the American public is most definitely not getting the same info.
So in your example, if Fox News is purposely putting up roadblocks (taking snippets out of context, headlines that don’t really align with what is being said, etc) then there is no way that the voters watching it will get the same meaning that was intended. It’s like a game of Telephone, except that somewhere in the middle someone is purposely saying different words.

I was actually surprised that the main source of illegal migration isn’t crossing the southern land border, but where they landed (usually by plane) and just overstay their visa.
I also think it’s a little on-the-nose that Musk is touting this considering his own immigration.

I think 74 million (and counting) Americans didn't like what the Dems had to say or how they said it.
You can moan all you want. But the Dems lost this election. And they probably shouldn't have.
