trade open or closed?

I just called up the unit that I wanted to get in and the person on the phone told me they have the trade open and that I shouldn‘t have a problem starting in the summer. However, the recruiter at the recruiting centre said the trade is closed and that I‘ll have to wait until the end of the year. What‘s the deal?

I‘d go with what recruitment told you as they have all the information available to them right in front of them. That person from the unit might not know all the facts like if that trades numbers have been cut for a variety of reasons or they could a reshuffling of positions.

Actually, I would tend to believe the person at the unit. You are talking about the Reserves, right? Well, the Reserve unit would know if they have openings or not. When you spoke with the CFRC, did you specifically indicate you are looking at Reserves as opposed to Reg Force?

Exactly what Casing said. The CFRC keeps track of all the trades opening and closing for the Reg F only. The reserve units are responsible for their own unit requirements.

My recruiter knows I‘m applying for the Reserves. I talked to another recruiter at CFRC just to make sure and he told me the trade is closed as well. I guess I‘m at the mercy of the CFRC....they say jump, you say how high...

What I would suggest you do is go back to the unit you want to join and advise that you went to CFRC and they said the trade was closed. One person here is wrong, if it turns out to be CFRC thats good for you if not you took 20 minutes of your time.

Sorry my post had to do with the assumption that mykmk was going Reg as opposed to REs as it was not specified in the orginal post.
