Sex on a plane? Not if airline can help it
Singapore Air to ask first-class passengers on A380 to refrain

Reuters
updated 7:52 a.m. PT, Wed., Oct. 31, 2007
SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines, the first operator of the new Airbus A380, has dashed the hopes of sexual thrill-seekers planning to engage in amorous activity aboard the world's biggest jumbo jet.

The carrier said it would ask passengers on the A380 to refrain from sex while ensconced in one of its 12 first-class suites, which boast the world's first airborne double beds.

"All we ask of customers, wherever they are on our aircraft, is to observe standards that don't cause offense to other customers and crew," the company told Reuters in a statement.

"Nothing different applies for our Singapore Airlines Suites customers."

While private, the double cabins are neither sound proofed nor completely sealed.

Singapore Airlines, the world's second-largest airline by market value, started commercial flights of the double-decker A380 last week with a Singapore-Sydney service.

"So they'll sell you a double bed, and give you privacy and endless champagne and then say you can't do what comes naturally?" Tony Elwood, who traveled with wife Julie in a suite aboard the inaugural flight, told the Times of London.

"They seem to have done everything they can to make it romantic, short of bringing round oysters," Julie said. "I'd say they shouldn't really complain, should they?"

Guess you won't make it into the "mile high club" this way ....

If I ever spent that so much money to purchase a ticket in that class of the plane.... I'd make sure that flight was worth every penny.

I watched a huge thing on the building of that plane on the discovery channel, there has to be somewhere on that plane you can get some privacy, it is HUGE

What a shame, I suppose this means people are just going to have to get intimate in the airplane washrooms like the rest of us sitting in coach :P

Yeah, just keep the noise down, it isn't like they are doing random checks they will only open the door to your suite if you are in there rockin the wings....

You can't lock the doors so you have to be quiet.

If you don't like it then go fly Virgin airlines, I hear they don't mind if you join the mile high on their flights....

A simple wooden wedge solves that little problem of staff popping in!

Good luck to them; on the flight that I was on to Frankfurt this past Spring there was a couple with the rest of us in the cheap seats that didn't seem to mind putting on a floor show, even without a double bed and private compartment.

Cheers,

You know what, its a really silly rule and is probally only in place to avoid some lazy flight attendents from having to wash the bed sheets.  I mean what do they expect putting beds and private rooms on a bloody plane?  Also, part of the thrill of joining the mile high club is the fact that its in an awkward place and you can get caught.  If they GIVE you a bed to have sex in that kind of takes the fun out of it :P

oh ya Dolphin,

May I just point out the ironic humour in that fact that "Virgin" Airlines dosent mind the sex lmao

I read in an aviation magazine a couple years back theres actually a company out there that will fly you through the mountains (in B.C. I think) and they have the back of the plane actually a bed with a privacy curtain and all....where they will fly you and you CAN join the mile high club. EDIT: Actually found one such company out of Ohio. Or should I say OHiO!

If you join the mile high club in an aircraft which was chartered for the sole reason for you to join, you should have an asterix beside your claim.

As it was stated above the main objective is not getting caught, if there is no chance of getting caught, then who cares?

There is plenty of space in some bathrooms to get your funk on...  B747-400 (British Airways) 4 bathrooms in the rear of the aircraft, there is one that is "L" shaped that goes in behind the others, 4 people could easily join the club at the same time....  Don't forget your camera

**What he said**

I was on a 747-400 once and I went to use the bathroom and heard the sounds of sweetlove in the bathroom next to mine.  It was a night flight on KLM to Amsterdam from Toronto.  I go into the bathroom, and I heard light faintly, "thud...........thud...........thud........thud.....thud..thud..thud.thud thud thud thud....bang!...."  Either it was a couple, or the cargo door was REALLY loose.

Yeah its almost like cheating really to go on some chartered flight when isnt the whole point going out and doing it in flight risking getting caught?

There used to be one operating in Toronto, either out of Buttonville or the Island. I don't know if they still do or not.
