Roshel has since modified the design since the first batch has been sent over. Plus they have a new design that reduces significantly the amount of civilian truck components. At the end of the day, if you want quantity, you need to accept some compromises.

It is a effetely a well armored bank truck, accept what it can and cannot do and move on.

Great vehicle for bringing troops from the rear up to the assembly area while offering some additional protection so they actually make it to the LD. Not so great for Advance to Contact...

As long as it on hard pack roads - then yes, but it really should be relegated to roles outside of anything near the front, at best it's an A2 Echelon (and realistically B Ech) vehicle.

Nothing surprising in that article for anyone paying attention to the comments on this forum.

Doesn't mean the Senator is a bad vehicle...just that when you use something to perform tasks it wasn't designed for there will be issues.

Solution? Send more LAVs so the Senators can be used in more appropriate roles.

I do like how the Kharkiv offensive was stopped (helped to be stopped) by the strategic mobility of the LAV/Strykers. The Stryker equiped unit move from Kherson oblast to Kharkiv in less then 24 hrs. It's the big advantage of wheels, that self deployable strategic mobility.

When's the last time anyone here in NA took a Ford F550 off-roading? Roads in Ukraine/Russia are barely passable tracks a number of months of the year, especially in the rural areas.

They work pretty decent going down logging/ lease roads that turn to muck in the spring.
More then a few used as service trucks running across farm fields.

A bit ranty - but a good point. Too many people do not seem to understand the power of the negative vote. Doesn't matter if you don't like X, a vote for Y is a vote AGAINST X and Z etc. You effectively neutralise two other voters. And not voting is a vote FOR X as they outvoted you 1:0

but they are what has been delivered therefore they will be used. If you folks hadn't frozen deliveries perhaps the transportation would have featured a different vehicle. As it is, if Ukraine is using valuable resources to establish an assembly line after receiving over a thousand of them, they must have found a worthwhile use for them

There are few of them running around here with service bodies on them weighing in the 15-17000lb range that do well through the mud and stuff. A few companies build them with off road packages, lift kits etc and offer wide tire options, again those do pretty decent in the muddy crap they have to drive through.
Is it the best, nope, but they work decent.

“Slide” is an interesting way of describing a loft delivery. More common to hear it called a pop. AASMs aren’t a munition I’m familiar with but my quick read indicates they have a rocket motor to extend range, probably helps with the low level delivery.

F550 is the go to pickup truck for off road forestry workers, just moving people and some gear. I can’t imagine the truck lasting very long if loaded down all the time to max load, and driven at reckless speeds over broken terrain daily until it breaks. They might last 6 months, so it’s no surprise it’s not a battle duty platform.
