Sikh & India (Alleged) Shenanigans in Canada (split fm Non-Muslim terr thread)

And let's not forget this Nobel Peace Prize laureate and "leader of a notorious terrorist organisation" as described by the British Government who continued to refuse him a visa to enter the UK until the 1970s, only a few short years before he became the PM of Israel.

Also not well liked by the Soviets in 1940, as evidenced by his NKVD mugshot and a stay in the Gulags.

Everything boils down to choices, doesn't it? Making judgements. Being discriminating. Arbitrating.

And not every judgement is going to be universally acclaimed.

Not sure if this fits here.

Immigration policy protests to continue daily in Charlottetown, workers vow

Immigrants to P.E.I. with soon-to-expire work permits are continuing to protest in downtown Charlottetown.

Island workers with expiring permits in the retail and food service sectors will likely not have their documents renewed, due to recent changes to the province's immigration streams and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that will prioritize construction, health-care and child-care workers.

"We want them to grandfather us in and we want them to listen [to] what is right," says Rupinder Pal Singh, an internet technology sales representative who's lived in Charlottetown for one and a half years. His work permit is set to expire in two months.

Not IN Canada, per se, but an update in a plot against a dual Canada-U.S. national living in the States (CTV's headline says the suspect is the dual citizen, but the story says the potential victim is)m via Canadian media ...
... and IND media

The National Post reports that India's high commissioner to Canada, along with five other diplomats, has been PNG'd.

ha ha simpsons GIF

Here's the RCMP presser. I just finished listening and I'm picking my jaw up off the floor.

  • RCMP's Deputy Commissioner of Federal Policing met with Indian officials and it didn't go well
  • RCMP have directly accused Indian diplomats of complicity in murder, extortion, and threats
  • RCMP have directly accused Indiva's governmet of using organized crime in Canada to further their aims
  • RCMP have done 'duty to warn' on 13 different individuals who were in danger
  • RCMP commissioner just accused India on live TV of breaching the Vienna convention
  • RCMP commish name-dropped Communications Security Establishment (Huge breach of the first rule of Fight Club)
  • These meetings happened on a long weekend (WTF??)
  • This presser happened on Thanksgiving Monday (WTF??)

Global Affairs Canada has also expelled the Indian High Commissioner (ambassador) and five other individuals. Canada expels Indian high commissioner, five other diplomats

This is absolutely incredible. And bad.

This will not end well.

India has no right to extort and murder on Canadian soil.

But.

This all got started because Canada has steadfastly refused to crackdown on Khalistan separatists based in Canada. For decades.

We could not even properly bring to justice the Air India Bombers.

OMG who grew a pair? Freeland? Joly?
A PNG would require as a minimum the minister of GAC, but, realistically, that's not something a minister would do on their own; the PMO would have at least tacitly endorsed the action. (Potentially in a way to preserve their own plausible deniability in case things go pear shaped).

Things could not get much worse between Canada and India. I mean, I suppose India could declare war on Canada. That would be worse.

Yeah - we have a number Indian people working here. You know the old joke "He has more chins than Chinese phone book"?

We have Singhs - at least six and more coming.

Having police officers baldly accuse the Indian government of pure criminality on live TV, and accusing them of breaching the Vienna Convention is about as strong a diplomatic slap in the face as I think can be delivered. The message is "your behaviour will be treated as per common criminals".

Just wow.
