I am seriously considering the Army Reserves. I have some friends who tell me not to, and my twin cousins are in the Reserves, who were just promoted to Corporal, who love it. As well my grandpa was in the Army, and he said it's the place to be to have fun and get an amazing life experience.

I moved 750 km away from home to University, so I am starting fresh with new friends and a new life. I am in my first year of University.
I want to join to meet new people and mainly just continue learning, and hopefully get a life-changing experience out of it.

I am not in the greates physical shape, certainly I am carrying some extra baggage. I am starting a program on Monday to start training myself before applying so that I will be set for the standards.

I am going to the recruiting office in the city on Monday to get some more information. If anyone here can provide some more information or to put the confidence back in me that my friends back at home knocked out of me, (or thought were my friends but they don't seem to have my back on this one) I would really appreciate it.

Thankyou for your time responding to this!

I'm in the middle of getting everything together to apply for the reserves right now so i cant really answer you question as well as i would want. But when my friends and family found out i was serous about it i got no support (excepted for  a few of my friends). I've heard it was a great experience to have, and the best advice i have for you is to just do what you think is right for you. Don't let others try to talk you out of it and put your hopes down about it.

It will get and keep you in shape, you will learn allot that will help you lots in the civilian world, and you will feel proud that your apart of something so big. And that your doing something that most people are afraid or cant do.

What ever YOU feel that is right and best for yourself is they way you should go.

hope this helps
