  CER.SPR:
You better slow down son, the military jump crs. is in the top of the hardest crs. in the military, you don't know what will happen, if you will even pass !, and the diver crs. is even harder !.
I've been on both crs. but not in the same year. And the moutain Ops crs. is no cake walk.
I can't see you getting crs. loaded on all these in one year.

GOOD LUCK ! You are going to need it.
P.S:  What do you think you are SUPERMAN. or gods gift to the military.

How long is one of your years?

I can understand if you were paying your way through school on a Civilian paramedic crse and taking skydiving on a weekend, but to be also taking an Air Ambulance crse seems like you are biting off an awful lot; not to mention that you seem to have managed to be Course Loaded on a military Jump Crse and also a Mountain Ops Crse.  Both those courses are rather hard to get loaded onto, and you have managed it.

Something doesn't ring right with all of the above.

I am sure all your questions have already been answered in the preceding posts about SAR Tech recruiting.   Best of luck in a very busy year ahead.

And all this on a blank profile.....

I'm deeply interested in becoming a SAR Tech. In the next year I'll be getting my civi jump, mil jump crs, mt ops crs, a civi paramedic crs, civi air ambulance crs, and in the fall hopefully Combat diver. Are these the right type of courses to be going after to help with selection. Also, what standard of swimming are they looking for apon entry.thanks

As my better half has done some of these, it took way longer than one year to do the ones he completed ! Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to be "in" the military to do the mountain ops course, military jumps course, and combat diver course????

no profile, ie. no info on military standing.

Great stuff, look forward to seeing you on next years course! good luck with an extremely ambitious and admirable course load.

Rescue!

now just forward your application thru the BPSO/ recruiter
see you soon.

Hey Guys!  I was just wondering if anybody could answer this question for me:  I have talked to 2 different recruiters online now and neither could answer this.  I was under the impression that in order to join the SAR Tech profession you needed to be at least a corporal.  But now that they are allowing direct entry civilians like myself, so if I am chosen to go to the prelim and then go to the 11 month SAR training what rank will you come out as?  One recruiter told me that you would be a private specialist 2 and the other recruiter told me you would be a corporal basic with specialist 2.  Can anyone clear this up for me?

Thank you very much for any replies,
Donnie

You cannot be a private specialist 2.......specialist 1 and 2 start at corporal

Cpl SARTechs don't get Spec 2 anymore.  After one (or two years) as a Cpl you will be auto-promoted to MCpl and then begin receiving Spec 2 pay.

To be frank , as of today, nobody knows. There are Civilians on this year's course. What will happen at the end is still " in the air". What I hope happens is they are promoted cpl spec 2 once qualified to perform Team Member duties ( approx 3 months after completing course). MCpl as soon as they are finished primary leadership training, or whatever it's called these days, maybe 18 months later? I am nowhere near being in charge though. Stay tuned.

I was wondering if there is any recruitment officer to contact in regards to civilian application to SAR TECH, wanted to ask some questions about my qualifications and what I could do to enhance my chances of getting into the trade.

Thanks, if anyone on the board also knows about the current civi apps please reply or message me.

I also have my name in for Civilian entry SAR-Tech. I was encouraged to do so by the Recruiter as I was handing in some paperwork for PLAR assesment for Med-Tech.

Something I have alway's wanted to do and thought it would be a great thing to do after some time in as a Med-Tech but apparently they are looking for civillian ACP's.

I haven't heard anything on either front yet. Most of the information I have, Iv'e read off this site.

Hello all. I have been given hot off the press, the newest and freshest Beta on how to become a SAR Tech, either from another trade (COTP) or Direct entry. The info is attached, in both official languages. I am endeavouring to figure out how to link to this post, so I can post a link in the recruiting, Remuster, and french threads. Can a mod help me out? Just PM me the how, and I'll take care of it.

Again, if anyone has questions, don't hesitate to PM me.

Hello all. Here is the link to the latest info on how to direct entry to SAR Tech. If you have a medic diploma, read on. If not, then remuster is the way to go. The info for either is here, in french or English: http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/199/post-661800.html#msg661800

anyone know if EMT-B (have WEMT as well) training would qualify for civilian entry ? this is basic level paramedic training from the US, and to my knowledge is slightly higher then EMR training here in Canada but not as much as our PCP training

See a recruitor (recruiter?). There is something called a prior learning assessment (PLAR). If you receive equivalency, you're golden.

If you are in the Edmonton area, there will an instructor from CF School of SAR at the Education and Career fair, or something like that, being held at the Edmonton Garrison on 4 March. He will be in attendance, manning a booth, and available to answer any questions. . I encourage you to make yourself available, he is very interested in meeting anyone and everyone. Let him know you troll this site. He will also be giving an info brief in Wainwright on March 5. again if you can make it, please do.

Not true. Plar is a tool used to establish if potential recruit has skills that can be accreditted toward trade. Ie journeyman mechanic would receive consideration towards vehicle tech training during a p.l.a.r.

Really? Didn't know that. I've always seen the potential MTs do a PLAR after they have been sworn in. Oh well learn something new everyday! :)
