Yeah just for the record I hate Poishing boots.... I mean I hate hate hate doing boots.

Some day I will blow torch these damn things and laugh with glee.  >:D

Did I mention I hate polishing boots yet?  :rage:

EDIT: And I can't even spell boots right in my topic header....you I sure am qualifed to be in the Infantry

Just to annoy you even more, HoM, but you still haven't spelled boots right ;) No apostrophe required, hehe. But, I share your disdain for parade boots, and oxford shoes, too. lol

I've been polishing boots for a very long time, and I'm still horrid at it.
Thanks god for Kiwi Honour Guard!

My other half hates my boots. I am forced to tend to them in the basement or not at home at all. She's worried about getting the Kiwi on the floor...She has nothing to base this fear on though......

I TOO hate polishing boots.

You may be qualified to be in the Infantry, but I'm afraid you'll have to turn in your regimental banner ;D

Its even more fun when they are not shiny enough and you get show parade for it.  More quality time spent polishing while someone is breathing down your neck about it.

CS you can come pry it out of my cold dead hands LMAO

PG: We have all done the shine parade thing, well I haven't since Battle School but I am sure I will again.

I actually don't mind doing boots at all..

Hmm, ask me again in 14 weeks. It may have changed.

I find boots more comfortable... but my boss prefers that his Officers act like 'gentlemen' and wear the oxfords... so much less  for me to polish, and since I wear a size 14 shoe, that's a good thing. Quite nice working for a Naval Officer.  ;D

The new Oxfords have vibram soles.  I picked up a pair the other day but have yet to wear mine.

They do indeed - I picked up a new pair after coming out of the sandbox... my last pair were issued to me in basic 10 years ago. Had a great shine, but unfortunately the left show had a hole in the sole - so it was time to turf them.

I loved polishing boots as a cadet.  It gave me something to do while watching TV without feeling guilty about my kit not being worked on.  I was horrid at it, but found it quite therapeutic.  I tried many shortcuts, but nothing seemed to work better than a small amount of polish, millions of little circles, and a gallon of water.  Then again, I only had to polish them about once a week.  I kept getting new ones issued after every year at Vernon.  I think I still have some VD floating around in my lungs.

I think you might want to rethink that line...  ;D

Large tin, two fingers, warm damp cloth, big circles, excellent results.  Worked fine for the last 22 yrs including the Queens guard at St James and Buckingham Palace.

Yeah it sounds bad, but was referring to Vernon Dust

I know exactly what you mean! Vernon killed my boots more than once! 6 weeks in that place and my boots would be in dire need of being stripped once I got home.
