Of course much of my opinion may be coloured by the fact that for much of the Seventies as a young 20s-year-old lieutenant and captain I was told by 40-year-old majors that my hair was too long. I pleaded RCHA quiff - but it wasn't accepted.

My hair as a civvy now is a lot shorter than it was during the hippies era.
