VANCOUVER, B.C. - It turned out to be a working vacation.
A group of Finnish police officers in Vancouver to play hockey in the World Police and Fire Games chased down a suspect after an assault on a bus driver over the weekend.
Vancouver police say two men on the bus started fighting, and when the driver tried to phone for help, one of the men punched the driver, sending his head slamming into the steering wheel.
Members of the Finnish police hockey team were driving by, saw the driver slumped on his wheel and the man running from the bus, and gave chase.
They eventual caught up with the man and held him until transit security and police showed up.
Police say the driver was shaken up by the attack and suffered a cut to his nose.
David Leopold Ruscheinsky, 50, of Vancouver is charged with two counts of assault.
