Gotcha both.  I was Leo D&M qualified in 89, and pretty much crewed them continuously until I retired in late '02, except for a year in Ress Tp I'd rather forget about.  Even got a black hat with an Engineer badge on it, much to my D&M course WOs chagrin.

I think that you'll see that the CDS (a dragoon, at that), has indicated that IED is the vital ground of current ops.  hmmm, who does IED... navy divers (under water), ammo techs (on ranges), oh, and yes, ENGINEERS (everywhere else).
