.. OK for "experienced" read, "OLD" (early 50s)!

I'm disillusioned with civilian engineering and am idly wondering whether I've left it too late for the military. The short version of my resume is:
PEng in Ontario, fields of practice are electrical and software.  BSc in Electronic & Computer Engineering (1986), MSc in Computing (1999) with my dissertation being on the subject of safety critical software.  I have nearly 28 years of engineering experience in the automotive, nuclear, defence sectors with a strong bias towards large scale system engineering and safety management. In this time, I have had both project management and man-management / leadership roles managing multi-million dollar projects and teams ranging in size from 3 - 30.

In parallel with my civilian career, I spent 20+ years in the UK Naval Reserve as a NCM in the Tactical Communications, and later Communications and Information Systems specialisation finishing as CPO. In this role I undertook a wide range of training in Communications, Sea Survival, Leadership and Instructional Technique as well as being employed at sea in an operational role, and ashore as an instructor at the Communications School. Once in Canada, and once I became a citizen, I joined the CIC (2012), and am now a Lt(N) working with a Sea Cadets Corps.

My questions are:
1. Is it too late for me?
2. What roles would be available for a direct entry with this level of experience?
3. I would anticipate that a PLAR would be required for civilian and reserves experience.... how long would this likely take to complete?

Cheers

New and exciting sounds good; I know at 51, I'm not going to be the next CDS :) I'm just looking for some rewarding fulfilling work in an environment where we're all working together to achieve the same objective, not the poisonous office-politics ridden environment of nearly every civilian work-place I've worked!

Good Day,

The Canadian Armed Forces policy on maximum enrollment age is that as long as there is enough time to complete the variable initial engagement (VIE) prior to reaching the compulsory retirement age of 60 and meeting all other eligibility criteria you would meet the requirements to process your application for consideration of employment in your chosen occupation. Eligibility criteria can be found at: http://www.forces.ca/en/page/applynow-100#age

So it seems it's not too late.... what engineering roles are recruiting direct entry PEngs at the moment and roughly how long would the recruitment process take?

Good day,

There is no set amount of time for the recruiting process as there are many variables and circumstances that could effect/prolong the length of time it takes to process an applicant. Therefore during the application process it is recommended that you do not quit any current employment in anticipation of gaining immediate employment with the Canadian Armed Forces.

I recently was on BMOQ-L with a 55 year old engineer officer recruit in the reserves.
