I only meant to say that over the years we have observed what seems to be the common areas that the commercial airliners fly when they are coming to or leaving the local airport, and that these contrails form in areas away from what seems to be the common areas and in a relatively distinct criss-cross pattern.

Here's a question for you: What do aeroplanes do besides buzz about airports?

Reminds me of the rumour started started by some lefty twit
in Lahr.Just after the F18 came into service the rumour started
that the Canadian planes were dumping fuel over Lahr.This even
made it into the local papers.This was caused by the F18 dragging
vortex off  the wingtips if any moisture was in the air, a result of
the aircraft being basically unstable.
Just goes to prove that a large number of people are not interested
in facts but choose to believe the most improbable stories if they
fit their preconceived ideas.
