CASR Editoral

I am taking offense with another one of their articles:
http://www.sfu.ca/casr/mp-jss-bhs-navy.htm
They are proposing (again) that we use Canadian-built catamarans as a transport. I remember the last time the government built aluminum catamarans in Canada! They were crap (remember the Pacificats?). And besides the statement that "BC shipyards already have experience in welded aluminum construction and the exports would subsidize the CF’s purchase costs" means one thing to me: a repeat of the Fast Ferry Fiasco. Sure, welded aluminum construction is somewhat familiar to BC shipyards, but it has never been done with a ship this size successfully in BC.
