Wonder if these same journalists will notice the amount of aircraft heading to the Yukon soon for their annual Sourdough Airshow in Feb?
(gee what a concept, an airshow in the winter...Foothills Pipe Line's Yukon Sourdough Airshow
Welcome back to the 32nd showing of the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Air-Show. Due to the shows popularity, (the largest single event of the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous) and all the "tall tales" from over 2500 "Honorary Sourdoughs"(Military personnel from previous years), the 2005 Sourdough Air show has become one of the largest civilian airshow displaying exclusively Military Aircraft. It is also one of the last "Free" Airshow in North America. Last year saw almost every type of aircraft in the Canadian inventory, both on static display and flying at the Whitehorse Airport. There were thirty plus Canadian and U.S. aircraft and one hundred and eighty military personnel, all here for the people of the Yukon and visitors alike, to see and meet personally. This year we will have on display most Canadian aircraft, and depending on World events, we are once again hopping to be able to show the USAF's C-17 Globemaster. We are also very fortunate to be able to host planes from the United States Air Force, the Alaska Air National Guard, the USN, and of course the Canadian Forces Air Force. We are still negotiating to have the USAF's famous A-10 Thunderbolt, the C-141 Starlifter, various U.S. Fighter Jets and at least 1 USN's P-3. We also hope to have two military bands to entertain the folks; the United States Air Force Band from Elmondorf AFB and the 4 Wing's Band from Cold Lake Alberta.
If you like airplanes, like the sight and sounds of jet aircraft flying low over the airport, have fantasies of flying a CF-18 or an A-10 "tank buster", or looking at the latest in transport planes, or maybe you would just like to meet some pilots and aircrew members; make a date to come out to the airport forthe flying and static displays on Saturday February 26th, and Sunday February 27th, from noon till 3:00pm.)http://www.yukonrendezvous.com/content.php?id=12
