I think it was me.. but you know the worst one was driving along and hitting a box of nails that had fallen on the road - you guessed it...8 flats. I suppose it could have been worse - i could have had been driving the duel rear wheel version. The genuine absolute worst road move was after the Calgary range clean-up - being the convoy commander (nine trucks) (as a mere corporal) and sole driver of a deuce - no mechanic backup. one credit card, with a few yahoo drivers - one of whom blew his engine. You know, after that I gave merry Hell to one officer and two senior NCO's - and was supported by the Squadron Sargeant-major. Needless to say, revenge was gained come PER time. I was right ticked off in 1981. By the way, did you know i ended up ordering all the railroad flats and arranging the rail move to Gagetown? The captain pushed it down to the Warrant who pushed it down to the Sargeant, who pushed it down to me. it only worked because someone from base transport had done this in Germany and in Shilo and because the chappie at Canadian National was kind. I also did all the resupply runs in Gagetown. Not one mention of this was on the PER - just 'dress and deportment good' - oh and 'has a tendency to assume authority and be over-responsible'. All the higher-ups got promoted. From 1977 til 1985, I never had summer leave. By the way i am still pissed off with Cyprus too, stuck with a bunch of drunks that partied all night and slept all day - and didn't have the guts to join Sargeant Kenny Austin and me working in the minefields. I'm glad the army changed.
