Hello,

I am not sure I'm doing this correctly but I'm trying to find someone that could help me with information regarding the 122nd Battalion Canadian Overseas Exp. Force, and in particular my g uncle, Alexander MacDonald. His number on the enlistment paper is 763091, he listed Gravenhurst Onatario as his place of residence, and his that he was born in Coldwater Ontario, and his mother as Christine MacDonald and his date of birth March 14, 1890. This paper was signed December 28, 1915.

Alex died and I cannot find where he is buried, nor if he died in the war. Also I am trying to find information regarding his wife, Annie Jane Brown that he married in 1911. Per a letter she wrote home in 1916 she mentions loosing her "poor dear Alex" but I don't know when or how (death or divorce).

Anyone that can help  me I truly appreciate.

Thank you

No need for the poll.  If you check out the site next time before posting you will find many means by which to start your research and hints on how to make it easier.  I am moving this out of The Canadian Army Forum and into the Military History Forum where you will find lots of tips and perhaps the info you need.  If not, perhaps some of these topics will help:

To summarize. Welcome to Army.ca, enjoy your reading.

The Commonwealth War graves Site lists 13 Canadian A. MacDonalds who died in 1916 (there are about 50 total listed for the First World War) 4 Alexanders’s and 2 with just initials and none with either that regimental Number or Unit. Also the 122 Bn seems rather high for 1916 to me.

The regimental number is correct though

I presume you got it here:

Possibility he either survived the war, or died in another year and is one of the 50 odd listed on the site above. A quick look though shows none with that number.

Hello Teresa,  Try picking the brains of the member of this Form "Canadian Expeditionary Force Study Group" They can help you find and or direct you in the right direction with information about your great uncle.

Good luck ::)
