Jagmeet Singh, probably the biggest political loser?

What’s up with the language he’s using these days; “bro” and “that’s what’s up”. I guess I’m getting old but come on.

2022 CPC Leadership Discussion: Et tu Redeux

Why do you want to know, so you can discredit whatever he says or make ad hominem attacks? Voting for PP/CPC isn’t exactly the bastion of strength either. If you think this interview reflected positively on PP, great. From his comments at the end of the interview I think he knows he reached too...

2022 CPC Leadership Discussion: Et tu Redeux

Darn it, my bad. The wording got me hook, line, and sinker. Should have looked into it more. So MPs get 3% accrual rate per year service and prior to 2016 it was payable at 55yo unreduced (65yo now)?

2022 CPC Leadership Discussion: Et tu Redeux

Interesting way of interpreting it, not sure the majority of the population would agree though. I think they might get some traction seeing he was eligible for a full pension at 31. I understand your point though, and would like to see some fiscal responsibility too.

    BMO Adds in Pay Stubs

This BMO ad immediately rubbed me the wrong way. Is nothing sacred anymore?!

Canada to Spend $5.0Bil on AEW Aircraft

Stupid question, where does the $5B figure come from? I remember the $300M in the DPU but haven’t seen anything else official. The first post seems like a click baity website. PS- going on 10 yrs in Quebec City, from BC. Wouldn’t change a thing.

Pro/Anti Child Bearing Policies (split from "Canada don’t matter" thread)

I understand that interpretation but think they’re just describing an opportunity that wasn’t commonly available before and increases options. The individual then gets to choose their preferred option, if motherhood isn’t chosen then the value proposition wasn’t persuasive enough or motherhood...

Pro/Anti Child Bearing Policies (split from "Canada don’t matter" thread)

Because you don’t agree with the framing of “improving opportunities” or because it’s true?

    Hamas invaded Israel 2023

I think it’s way worse than that. There’s a way to explain Oct 7th without condoning it and sounding somewhat reasonable. He can’t even bring himself to pretend to do that, it’s reprehensible.

    Hamas invaded Israel 2023

Your lack of response to the Oct 7 question speaks volumes. Disgusting and disgraceful.

Personalities aside.... a good thing for the CAF?

Wrong thread but noticed you snuck in E7 with the word “soon”. To me, it’s the single most interesting part of the DPU but I can’t get over the $307M allocated. Curious how it’ll unfold. Good points by all, carry on.

Justin Trudeau hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

I remember first hearing about this ‘update’ and thinking it made sense just to tweak/refresh and publish in short order. It’s several years later now and it’s still being called an update which seems to under appreciate the situation wrt world events and CAF challenges. Quite concerning and my...

    Hamas invaded Israel 2023

That was a very loud message indeed. It will be interesting to see what Monsieur Macron considers to be the appropriate accompanying action.

Senior military leader: Canadians 'overly comfortable' as global security shifts

Ex-foreign minister and MND Perrin Beatty penned an open letter to the PM. (Current CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce). https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/canada-unserious-player-on-international-stage/wcm/fa2f5064-c0c9-4165-997e-eb94c0f568be/amp/

Senior military leader: Canadians 'overly comfortable' as global security shifts

Interesting point you raise, I think you might have something there. I wonder if it has the desired effect or just pisses off the EXs of the world. For example (but not limited to); I could see some GAC DGs and ADMs being mightily insulted by someone in uniform speaking up. Hope I’m wrong though.

Senior military leader: Canadians 'overly comfortable' as global security shifts

Agreed, I don’t think they were reckless and went public without first advising/consulting higher. I just think they may not have been as receptive to feedback as their masters would have preferred/expected. Specifically, describing the Canadian public as “overly confident” and “naive” seems...

Senior military leader: Canadians 'overly comfortable' as global security shifts

In a year-end interview Commander CJOC was quoted as saying Canadians are “overly comfortable”. Personally I find the comment to be very appropriate. However, I also wonder (similar to the recent CRCN video) if these comments were supported by DM, MND, PMO etc...
