hey, thanks alot!
Do you know if any reserve unit in Toronto runs mountain warfare course? And is MW only infantry thing, or can armoured personnels also apply for the course if interested??
Hope it's not too irrelevant to this topic, but is winter warfare and mountain warfare different stuff? Some people told me winter warfare is basically fighting in the mountain during cold weather and mountain warfare covers both winter warfare AND fighting in rugged terrain. Any ideas? I'm...
thanks alot, guys, but back to the swimming question: what if you sink during the SQ then? Do you get as many chances as you want until you make it or do you fail? And I was also wandering whether different branches of service expect different swimming standard. If nobody really cares as...
Hi. I know I have to take swim test during the recruiting process. Is there any style/stroke you have to swim during the test, or is it ok as long as I can swim 25-50 meters in whatever stroke I want? I can't swim at all in freestyle (crawl), can swim about 50 meters in breaststroke, and swim...
Another question. actually 2
1) Is there any weekend training for CAP like BOTP?
2) As a reserve, I will put my best effort to train once a week and one weekend a month minimum requirement, and I think I can manage that. I think I can do more than that, and place at least 2-3 weeks during the...
Eowyn, thanks alot :salute: If they're modularizing CAP into 2week blocks, how long is CAP as a whole? Does that mean I can take CAP in pieces instead of taking the whole thing in one summer?
Hi. I've gotten alot of good information conerning reserve recruitment in the past and I have another question concerning DEO. Anyone's comment, I would really appreciate. Well, I have read and searched all the forum pages and I still can't figure out how reserve DEO training and promotion...
I don't think you can ask your friend to get police clearance certificate for you, if that's what you're thinking. I'm now in Japan too and the police told me I will have to come back here myself to get the form in the future when I apply for the reserves, or that I'll have to leave everything...
Thanks alot PJ D-Dog :) I'm waiting cuz I still need to get my citizenship. Even after that, some recruiters told me, I may have to wait for a few more years in addition if I want to pass the security clearance easier... I need to make my stayed-in-Canada period little longer. :boring:
I got very useful information and comments in the past, and I really thank everyone for it. Well, I have another question concerning the reserve. I'm planning to join the reserve in 4 years from now as a DEO, and I'm planning to stay with my unit as long as possible. I think I will stay in...
:) yes, although I'm really interested in the armoured, I surely wanna keep my options open and think about the infantry too! Especially that they are getting rid of cougars (that's what I heard), and I don't know what they will get in the future... Thank alot! :salute:
Thank GW &mdh. Does that mean the interviewers decide whether I should join as NCM or officer? I'm interested in armoured or armoured reconnaisance, and I thought I would take a shot at DEO. Well, I guess graduate degree won't help that much in leadership skills,as you said. What quality do...
Thank you! Thank you for all the goody information. Well, yes, I was bit worried that I would be too old to join. I'm in early 30s now, but because of the job and security-related problems, I think I would have to wait for about 3-4 years before I join the reserves. By then I would be like...
Thanks, everyone for the feedbacks. Yea... I guess I should expect some delays on the clearance process. And yes, Japan is a constitutional monarchy. I meant Republic of Korea AND Japan. ;D
I was just wondering.. What's the average age for reserve officers (infantry, armoured, artillery) in 2nd lieutendent-captain level? Is there any lieutendent in his 40's or 50's? Is that lot higher than the one in the regular or foreign armies? Just curious ^-^ :cdn:
Thanks a lot for the information. Korea still has small UN observers after the armistice and I heard there's also a small Canadian detachment there. Just wondered whether my Korean background would hurt or help if I decided to join CF. Thanks! :cdn:
Jebo asked about his Yugoslav background. I have a similar question. I plan to join the reserves (either infantry or armoured) and I spent 15 years in Republic of Korea (South Korea, of course) as a citizen (also born there). I also spent 5 years in Japan and 5 years in the US before coming...
Thank you, thank you everyone for the comments. I got an e-mail reply from 39CBG recruiter that said only the citizens can join at this point. But then other regimental homepages still say permanent residents can join case by case. And a recruiter told me to call him, so I called, and what he...
