Is that while on a tour of duty, and training? Or all the time?

Jewelry and the CF (in particular, necklaces)?

I remember watching basic up were at one point a recruit was told to remove all jewelry, and in this instance it was a necklace. I was curious if this is the policy all the time? I ask because I wear a rosary necklace, that I also pray with, and was wondering what the policy was concerning it.

Question about joining as a Medic

I tend to lurk in the crypts quite a bit. However, it does seem repeated over and over again that those who are in the military side of things are constantly busy but not necessarily with calls. So, I am curious as to what this is... I have heard grumbling about warehouse work, and what not, is...

Medical Technician ( Med Tech )

I am a bit confused as to why this is suggested. I am getting a ton of mixed information pertaining to the med-tech career field and it is getting rather hard to sort through the varied opinions.

Question about joining as a Medic

Prairie Dog - could you explain this comment to a ignorant outsider. I am confused, for you say you do get the amount of calls needed for certification but yet you are always busy. I am discerning joining as a med tech but I continually read this sort of rhetoric and do not know what it means...

Question about joining as a Medic

you're probably right. I tend to view multiple threads and can mix up things. Either way, it has been mentioned numerous times, in the context of comparing civie paramedics with military med-techs, that they are so different and can not be compaired. Yet, no one seems to have elaborated on this...

    SAR Tech

fair enough. Something to chew on. Are the majority of medics in the forces unfit? I always thought of them to be in similar shape as people in combat arms? Maybe thats my romanticized vision kicking in again. In reality though, there is nothing barring a med-tech from applying to be a SAR...

    SAR Tech

blackadder1916 -  I understand your point but it does not help to answer the question, of why there is not as many med-techs applying. Are they restricted from applying due to their 6 year contract?

Question about joining as a Medic

I keep reading this over and over again but I still can not figure out what it means. Could you elaborate?

Question about joining as a Medic

I was wondering what the typical (i say typical, solely because there are obvious exceptions) career progression for a med-tech was? I remember reading on here that various fields promote slower/faster than others - one that comes to mind is the artillery officer. *Brain Fart* As a extension...

Medical Technician ( Med Tech )

The PDF file for this trade on the forces website says you go to military occupational training after BMQ, but then on another site it says that you go this after SQ. So, do medics receive SQ training?

    SAR Tech

is there a reason you don't see a lot of med techs? (I'm trying to conceptualize why this is so)

Question about joining as a Medic

someone mentioned earlier an interesting thought... can med-techs receive the same type of specialty training (for a lack of a better term - basically jump course, dive course, etc) as the infantry. Or is this type of stuff left for sar-techs? Is there a military equivalent like in the USA...

    SAR Tech

Out of fear of getting the "use the search function" response, I once again re-read this entire thread but did not find the answer to the question floating in my head. What trade/moc (is that the correct term?) do the majority of applications come from - I remember reading earlier that the army...

How to be athletically productive in the morning??

How to be athletically productive in the morning??

This thread indirectly addresses a problem that I am sure many of you in BMQ are suffering from. I come to seek your advice, on what works for morning routines. I have read numerous studies that show you get optimal 'lifts' in the evening but due to martial arts and work schedules I have decided...

    Question concerning police work

I have found in the past that my threads have been misinterpreted so I will try to be as blunt as possible with this one. Ever since I was a child I wanted a career that ‘made a difference,’ as cliché as it may sound, I did not want a pay cheque but felt a need to help alleviate the suffering of...

Question about joining as a Medic

Wallace - see this is where we diverge on opinion... what is wrong with not knowing your calling or going adrift in life? They say that the typical person of generation Y will have up to 4 different career jobs  in their lifetime. This notion that we must 'know' what it is we want when we...

    The Martial Arts Superthread

muskrat - one of the nice things about wtf taekwondo, is that the majority of the adult classes are run at the same time as the children's classes... so, if you were interested in learning a MA along with your daughter, that would be a good option. I know a lot of parents who do this solely...
