Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

HitorMiss, I wasn't trying to paint all men as evil nasty creatures, I don't believe that, and apologise that that is how it sounded. I was trying to point out that not all of them are raised to treat women with respect and protect them, that there are plenty who are cruel and violent towards...

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

Anyone's Grunt I disagree with you about men being raised as protectors of women, (I edited my previous post to add something about this). Maybe some of you are raised that way, plenty aren't and I've tangled with a few of them. We here about them in the news. I don't consider men to be a...

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

I probably shouldn't have read this thread as alot of the comments really irked me. Enough that I've decided to wade in here. The carreer choices available to a women shouldn't depend on whether a man feels comfortable with her doing it. Why should we cater to you guys that way?  What makes you...

I am so torn ... Reg or Res route... long post

Alright I'll toss out a thought for you. It was reg force that you had originally applied for so I assume you and your husband had already decided your family could make it work. It sounds like that is still what you would really prefer and with Ottawa willing to grant the waiver, opportunity...

Training for bmq, chin ups or pull ups?

Orchard, both those questions have been asked and answered before. Just search the recruiting boards, it should be easy to find your answers as there's plenty of threads on what you can and can't take to basic and running at basic. And to make things easier for other people who search this site...

The initial contract for combat engineer is for 5 years, at least that is what I was told I would be signing on for.

    Joining Help

If you look at the threads that are stickied to the first page of this section you will find one that contains an FAQ where you can find the answers to your questions about joining. As well, the DND site had an article on it about the average ages of recruits these days, I can't remember what it...

Soldier Qualification Course (Questions & Answers)

Good to know, one of my friends has applied for RMS clerk as well. I wonder what happens to clerks who start out in one for the other environments and then switch to army. I suppose they would need to do an SQ course.

Soldier Qualification Course (Questions & Answers)

Curious, on the recruiting site in the details aboaut RMS clerk, it says that after BMQ they go straight on to MOC training, no mention of SQ at all. Are you guys sure she would be doing SQ?

Bystanders watch as 91 year old American vet beaten

Despicable, both the carjacker and the apathetic bystanders. I hope that I never become so uncaring that I could watch such a thing and not help.

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

You need to be fluent in either French or English to be in the military  and the CFAT can be taken in either language. Seems fair enough to me.

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

And military members would want to do this because...? And even if they did, how would they know which occupations require the highest scores? And the highest scores in what part of the test? And for this exercise to have any value at all the free test would have to be very similar to the CFAT...

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Heh, I don't actually live in the city, but I'm only about 60 kilometers away, so not too bad.  Yes, mine wouldn't have gone so fast if they'd had to check anything out like that. No medical problems either which I understand can really slow the process down. Yes it was, my family and friends...

Sunday CrossCountry Checkup is about Afghanistan

True enough, and I'll admit that Canada AM has often portrayed the good that Canadian soldiers are doing over there. It just seems sometimes that the news deliberately paints the bleakest picture possible. Perhaps though it stems from not having access to the soldiers to get their stories...
