Leave Program - Special Christmas/New Years Travel [MERGED]

Are we talking Hercs or Airbuses? Because I've waiting 5 days for a Herc before :P

    Pay Increase

And I will confirm that yet again as I went from Cpl IPC 3 to MCpl IPC 3.

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

And regarding H&R Block, it's 29.95+ tax for the instand refund for students only. Normally, you pay a certain amount (I think it's 40-50$) and if you want the instand refund they take a percentage of that.

Theater & Continental Balistic Missile Defence . . . and Canada

Ditto. The fact is that it is very hard to hit a target moving at 11km/s.. The fact that in the test, they MISSED 3 out of 8 times on a target that they knew the trajectory and launch time to, means that it is not an effective system. Russia tested a maneuverable warhead in 1998, so essentially...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

Just to add, I called Revenue Canada this morning and CONFIRMED that as an ROTP student you cannot claim tuition (obviously) but you CAN claim the $400 a month credit for being a full time student. Good news for me anyways.

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

I've been reading up on it recently and you are right Inch, there is no way to claim tuition because it's not coming out of the mbrs pocket. The 400$ a month though is a little more ambiguous.. There isn't anything that I've found that says you can or cannot claim the full-time student...

Yeah there was another thread in equipment that mentioned surface laser platforms capable of taking out artillery shells. I doubt it would be much trouble for a system like that to eliminate tactical short range surface to surface missiles of the SCUDs and old Soviet SS- model surface to surface...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

Well as an ROTP student I know that I am not allowed to claim either the tuition (since I'm not paying it), or the 400$ a month I get for being a full time student (I'm getting money to go to school so that doesn't count either).. I am lucky though because I was getting MCpl pay for 8 months of...

You see, this is what I would be worried about. Completely mobile, capable of firing from anywhere, inertial guidance (cannot be jammed and with a good computer can plot it's own course from anywhere to anywhere), solid fuel (low, low maintenance for the beginning of it's life), can use...

Theater & Continental Balistic Missile Defence . . . and Canada

I don't know what if any method of interception we have, although I kinda doubt we have one. Missile interception is a pretty exact science, sometimes refered to as "hitting a bullet with a bullet", although I suppose if we wanted to there would be no reason why a nuclear tipped anti-air missile...

It's more the heat plume from ignition that initially gets attention, as any rocket requires quite the "explosion" (controlled) to get into orbit. As for destroying an inbound missile, well, think about this. It took YEARS in the 40s to perfect the explosive symetry to properly compress the...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

I've heard the same thing but since I'm not in that boat yet I didn't really pay much attention. My father goes to an accountant every year because he finds that they know more than the average joe working at HR Block. He then claims the cost of the accountant on the next tax year.

A suitcase nuke could be just as bad as an ICBM because if it were taken up to the top floor of a buildling, even just 300 feet, that is more than enough to create the same effect as an airburst. An airbust just has to be above the ground to be effective. If the US DOE estimate of as little as...

Well, tax season is here, so my question is this: What military related deductions does everyone use? Any tips to pass on?

    Whos my recruiting officer

Exactly. If you're looking for money to out to Alberta and work on the rigs or something. If you really want to serve, you'll pay your own way and you won't whine about it. Give it up, I've seen people on civvie street shell out a hundred dollars just to get resumes done up, and you guys are...

    Reserve Full time ?

CLA route letters were used quite often for guys that wanted a week or two of work and were guaranteed to be there every day. Also, adventure training or other week-two week long exercises were good uses of route letters..

Actually if your unit is nice you can go on up to a 14 day route (sp?) letter for class A.

    Pay Increase

You've got to admit that we do have it pretty good though. I'm pretty sure that Private and OCdt pay is not designed for families, and as an OCdt making 1250$ a month, it's nice to see things like CFAO 28-4 11.d that limits rent to 25% of gross pay. Makes me happy to be able to afford a decent...
