There's nothing set in stone.
I was on ILQ with a 29 year old Patricia Warrant Officer. Basically his career went Battleshool - Tour - Promotion - Course - Tour / Promotion - Course - Promotion - Tour - Course. In a war-time army, this isn't too crazy if you're good at what you do. ...
In no order...

I worked recruiting for a little bit. I would hit a couple of of high schools each week for presentations.
The problem that I found was that the students didn't think of the military in a good way. They also didn't of the military in a bad way. It's that they didn't think of the military at all.
I'm not too much of a keen kit guy (other than waterproof ruck liners), but for my money the best piece of kit (that I didn't see on your list) is the fleece sleeping bag liner. It's worth every penny for my money. I only wish I got more rack in the field so I can use it more.
I can't wait to take my 6b by computer. Instead of months in Gagetown doing attack, withdrawl, attack, withdrawl, I'll just get to play Socom or Halo II. It'll be awesome.
I have an older issue bivy bag and I just carry around a unhooked coat-hanger and hang it around the opening. Works pretty well when you're changing your skiivies in your sack.
You can also hook the coat hanger back up to hang up your combats at night.
I'm not sure how to improve the PER, but I'd just like to point out I've never really seen a person that was all bad. Sure, a soldier may have sucked at drill, but may have been a great machine gunner - or he's lousy at organizing his kit, but he's a great instructor - or whatever. We all have...
From what I hear the Comm Research guys get a comprehensive training program and work with all the top of the line high tech secret stuff. I have a friend whose Comm Research and he doesn't tell me much about his job. After the contract you can get jobs at Bell Canada and stuff. If you're...
I agree wholeheartedly, but it made me think of a few questions.
When you look at history of Canada, the Liberals have ruled more often than naught - ever since Mackenzie & Blake. They keep getting elected time and time again, they're called Canada's Ruling Party. Does this mean that, in...
Role of Infantry:
To run around in the snow and mud, bitching constantly how the training sucks only to retire to your mess and brag how hard you are.
Role of Medics:
To sit around on the range drinking coffee waiting for something bad to happen. (female) To be leered at in the meal line by a...
It's arguably tougher for the cadets. They do a three week pre-course before the B Para, to get them into shape, etc. Three weeks at the CPC was enough for me.
In my sect, I've been trying this work for the last little while and it's been working. Rather than the textbook B A C D frontal that we all know and love, I have two independent teams - my support team & assault team. My two C9s, 1 grenadier and 1 2ic are in the support, everyone else is in...
My old man says the army brought out the worst in me and the best in me. When he says worst, he means the parts of the army that cause new recruits to swear, drink and womanize. (I'm mostly done with the swearing and womanizing. :crybaby:) He also knows that the army has sorted my life...
The bagging ceremony consists of the CO forming up the new recruits up and subsequently kicking them in the nuts. :o Last man standing gets to go on a QL4.
HAHAHA
re: Yeoman's post on the 2nd page about the kid who falls asleep in cow crap.
I can vouch for that story. I was an instructor on that course and the kid told it me first hand the next day.
That kid was hilarious. After that I couldn't look at him without laughing.
Being presented my Regimental Cap Brass and being told "Welcome to the Regiment."
Having the RSM pull me aside once to ask my opinion (This was much later in my career!)
During an ex with miles gear, I lead the first section of the first platoon of the first company in a massive obua attack. ...
I do like the idea of an 18 month contract.
Have it for the kids who want to make a few bucks out of highschool, see the world, etc. We already have a contract that is similar right now - it's for the reserves when they go on tour. I think the 18 month contract would work for some missions...
Hi All,
Not sure if this is the right forum for the question, sorry mods if it's not, I'm new to these boards.
I'm sure people have all seen the pics of Lt(N) Saunders' funeral. If not, here's a link to a pic from the Post...
