    ROTP 2011-2012

Like you said, CMR will provide you with a great opportunity to improve your French, but that is not the only opportunity that CMR will provide you. Although I did not go to CMR in my first year, I've heard a lot about it since I did BMOQ with a large group from CMR, a roommate of mine was from...

    ROTP 2011-2012

Congratulations to everyone who is getting there acceptances. I'd like to comment on some of the items that are currently being discussed; specifically, accepting RMC instead of Civi U and the fitness requirements for RMC/ Civi U. For those of you who had your hearts set on Civi U and are being...

    ROTP 2011-2012

RMC provides one unique experience, and Civi U provides another. Despite living and working in a military environment, RMC cadets/ grads are not necessarily better off than their Civi U or DEO counterparts- its all about the individual and their attitude. At the end of the day its about how much...

    ROTP 2011-2012

Formerly the course was done in two parts, IAP and BOTC. IAP was completed prior to the first semester of subsidization and BOTC was completed the following summer. The courses have been merged into one, BMOQ, which is too long for the short time between when high school ends and university...

    Military Training at RMC

Over the past year or so, RMC has reserved three weekends during the academic year for the purpose of military training. The intent being to practice and confirm basic military skills under the command of the Cadet Wing chain of command. We recently held our first military training weekend of...

    Army Fitness Test

Its called the Commandant's Challenge, it was done in addition to the Expres test. I believe the Commandant of the Infantry School is interested in making it the minimum fitness standard at the school instead of the Express test. The test was a 5km timed run followed by max push ups in 2 minutes...

Cadets vs Reserves for RMC applicant

Brihard is bang on. There are plenty of ex reservists and cadets at RMC, everyone picked their own route based on what was right for them. Personally I stuck with cadets because the circumstances I was in were very good. On the other hand, some people only did reserves because that's what they...

Be in shape when you arrive on course...

I was merely commenting on the way we score our test and how it is used at the College, not saying that we are any fitter than the rest of the CF. There are people who fail the test and in my opinion the consequences are not enough. Ocdts are given two years to pass the test before they can be...

Be in shape when you arrive on course...

This is what we currently do at RMC. Our PPT is conducted 3 times yearly and is scored out of a total of 500. A pass is 250, average is around 320, over 400 is superior and over 450 is exceptional. The scores are tracked and posted so that your chain of command can see them and it becomes one of...

    CAP 2010

Sharksfan, I should have specified, I'll be in Gagetown. If your still at RMC get on the DWAN and follow the link that appears on your posting message. If you can't get on the DWAN, PM me your email address and I can send you a copy of the kit list, unfortunately I only have the Gagetown...

Be in shape when you arrive on course...

Being a part of the college and seeing so much of it first hand, it is disheartening; however, like everywhere else in the CF, there is good and bad. I know many individuals who are extremely fit and keen, and I believe that they will make very good leaders. Its unfortunate that a few bad apples...

Be in shape when you arrive on course...

Ha. The PPT does have higher numerical standards than the EXPRESS test, but the PSP who evaluate us are very relaxed on form. There are a lot of push ups, sit ups, etc that should not count. The PSP staff at RMC do not want to fail anyone and as such they let some sloppy push ups get by. Also a...

    CAP 2010

Are any of you guys on the CAP course starting June 7th? I was initially on a predominately RMC course that started on May 25th; however, I twisted my ankle and had to ask for a later course. There are only a couple people that I know who are on my posting message, is anyone here on a course...

    CAP 2010

The Commandant of the Infantry School and some of the course officers were at RMC on the 26th/27th of March. They gave an hour long CAP (BMOQ-L) brief. For the summer they said 7 courses were being run in Gagetown, 2 in Aldershot (for Reservists), and 4 in Valcartier. For the courses at...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

Its a competitive process. Everyone reapplies for a trade, no matter the grouping they were accepted for. Then you compete for the spots through your file and interview process. Those who have been accepted for what they want may get the shaft in the end. Since the process for this year isn't...

    ROTP 2009 (Summer)

As mentioned, all Civi U people will partake in the same indoctrination that the RMC Officer Cadets took last year. It looks like they will be split among RMC Kingston and RMC St Jean.

    ROTP 2009 (Summer)

It will be different this year for those headed to Civi U. Your CFRC will tell you when it knows.

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

I don't know about each year, as I can only speak about my year. As a current first year, we entered under a different system than other years of the college. As such we have a much higher VR rate at RMC because we didn't attend training prior to getting here. We started with about 277 first...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

That being said, I think it depends on the individual squadrons and leaders. This semester the CWC suspended all morning activities (parades and squadron events) during mid terms. It was a nice reprieve and allowed us to get some time to ourselves to study or do whatever. From what I hear from...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

FYOP does not begin until September. That mini- basic is known as Recruit Camp and for my year it was 2.5 weeks before September. The rumour mill is saying that both RMC First Years and Civi U First Years will have to partake in Recruit Camp, however take that with a grain of salt.
