Bear spray is also good advice, we had at least one grizzly strike last year in the Hinton backcountry area...  and heading out with the bear team looking for further victims is not fun!

That is all that would be required, but if I had to enforce a ban such as this, I would take any other form of supporting evidence that I could!  Being able to describe offender's cell phone would be a good start.

I think that enforcing the cell phone law would not be far off from gathering evidence for seatbelts.  If the officer is able to describe the phone being used, or to capture the offence on the in car camera system, it would assist one's credibility in court that an offence had occurred...

I'm very happy that nobody was hurt.  I hope that this was an isolated incident, and there are no accomplices or copycats out there.

I agree that everyone needs to wait until the circumstances are fully investigated, before jumping to conclusions. Having said that, if the allegations are true, I believe they should have the book thrown at them.  Perception about those in law enforcement is bad enough as it is, without more...
