You might want to expect to spend alot of time in Borden if your QL3's(Trade course) is also in Borden, which it might be.  Two things happen after your basic.  You are course load on your Ql3's right alway or you goto PAT Platoon for a little to a long while.

As already stated  you will be given the gear that you require.  If you decide to buy any equipment go through the training yourself, then make informed decision on what "YOU" need to do your job better.  What might work for 1 solider might not work as well for someone else.  Hope this...

Cadpat should not sold as surplus, it is illegal for DND to sell Cadpat even to authorized buyers. It is considered controlled technology and shall be shredded to a point where it is not possible to return it to operational state or burning.  Any Cadpat you see in a surplus store is stolen...

Why do you not try contacting a aviation company.  Like um  Lancaster themself.  The only problem you might run into is that some parts might be controlled goods and you would have to be a approved buyer, if there are any authorized for no military use.  And how you become one, I have no idea...

I have no problem with anyone going into a surplus store and buying OD green  combats or DEU clothing that was legally sold by the military.  What gets my goat is when you see someone walking down the street in cadpat pants.
