Starting points for me:
Public service should be cut back to 2015 levels as a percentage of population and then adjusted for population gain. But I want to see an immediate cap on FTE's that means that no department can grow without losses in others. Buy out if needed but there will be a...
Not working for the federal government but working in the public sector and in a smaller remote office. TEAMS has been a great workplace efficiency gain as I don't have to spend half a work day to go meet my boss or a coworker or travel 4 hours for a one hour meeting. I spend a significant...
Man...if I sold my house I'd be stuck at Regina or Timmons to be debt free. Been there and there's a reason I'm not in Northern Ontario.
Those are really depressing numbers when I think of what the average salary is for folks + cost of child care.
Found this of interest:

But it highlights the lack of growth in supply compounded with the increasing demand for low rent (which also speaks to me about individuals on low incomes) and then I ponder how much of this...
Was listening to a podcast yesterday on a way too long of drive talking about the myths of the British Army in WW1.
One of the key points brought forward was that the platoon became the organizational focus of assault and that adaptive, flexible tactics were key to avoiding some of the...
Or offer a wage that offsets the location and remoteness. I could go back to work in N. Ontario...for half the wage. And then add in the higher cost of living X hours from the nearest major airport (thunder bay or sault ste. marie don't count) and why???
I also wonder why the need to...
https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/marketreport/wages-occupation/6641/ca
Interesting take on minimum wage, median wage and top wage advertised for the food server industry and broken down by province. Hint...almost all of them are minimum wage.
Comparison then to the "Cost of living wage". Rates...
Legally...no. But if you are the employer...that controls the employment status of the individual and their working visa in Canada....it's very easy to tell them to stay late/early or not clock in all the hours or cut benefits that a Canadian would fight them on. When you're given no choice...
There is some of that...look at how many "ads" are in small print but don't have details...run it for a couple of weeks and all of a sudden nobody applied so TFW
Then there are the games some larger operations are running....hire for one -> TFW -> move to a second location due to X reason...
I get that there are lots of kids not applying...or don't know how to apply well. Showing up with no resume, no tickets, a restrictive schedule for when you can work and demanding high wages...doesn't work.
But then I look at the 18 year old nephew who took a job at Walmart because they...
Looks like the Quebec CL-415's are in BC....had to check the CIFFC report to see who was where and I knew BC didn't have any CL-415's making the job easier.
If it's only occasionally HFI 3 behavior, and mostly grass, those tanker ops will be quite productive. Just hope there's enough crews...
Sorry my lack of clarity. What I am unsure about is if the individual would be charged with a federal level offense - Arson being one option - or under BC Provincial laws - for example starting a fire during a fire ban.
Looks like it's the BC Wildfire Act for the legislation but I haven't...
