Is it just me or do you ever get that feeling after you do something incredibly hard. Today our course sergent increased our ruch wieght to 50 pounds and made us do a 5 km shuffle. This may not sound like alot to most infanteer‘s but im only 3 weeks into my BMQ. In the beginning it was a struggle but twoards the end it was like our whole platoon was energized and we pushed thru. at the end it felt like an enormus accomplishment like I could do it all again. It‘s hard to explain but you feel so proud of what you thought you could never do but just did.

Anyone get this feeling sometimes?

Those of us with time in can say they same.
Keep that attitude and you‘ll get through!

I know the feeling you‘re talking about man...it feels good...hard to explain but you think to yourself at the start of something things that you will never survive and when you do, you feel awesome and closer to your buddies.

Never underestimate the power of will and determation. Only with the concept of teamwork and a goal (to finish) will it be obtained.

.

So you‘re in week 3 and there is time to get online?

Is there Internet available to all recruits?
Or just those who bring their own comp?

So how much time do you "really" get for personal time?

Is it safe to say that if you use your time wisely that you should be able to sleep most of the night? Or do they make sure you are up until well after lights out working on your kit no matter what?

I just finished my latest interview, and was told that if anything was going to happen it would be in the next 8 weeks or so, so I‘m hoping to get in by summer.

Any info on what to "really" expect would be helpful. I‘ve seen a lot of videos of people doing (things), but those videos dont really show how often things happen, or how recruits are feeling while they‘re doing them.

I mean its not like in the movies where the drill Sgt picks one guy out and decides to ride him until he breaks, punishing everyone else for his mistakes right?
More like, everyone gets their fair share of "personal attention" from their instructors?

Anyway, I know I‘ll find out if/when I get there, but I‘m super excited and super nervous at the same time. I feel like I want to know as much as I can ahead of time, so I know what to expect and get off to a good start.

With regards to the internet, he‘s probably doing a weekend warrior BMQ, meaning he‘s in Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

With regards to "personal attention", it‘s quite the opposite... one person screws up, everyone take crap for it. Generally encourages team work.

Woops....guess i got to mention im in a co-op program that runs with my school.I spend the morning at school and the afternoon form 1:00pm to 6:00pm at my armoury and every second weekened there.

shoulda mention it earlier

What ever happened to being C.B‘d for the first few week‘s?

Earl: Apparently they aren‘t allowed to CB anyone anymore. On my PLQ, we got every single weekend off, and got a full leave pass on every weekend (despite a myriad of threats that they would get taken away). On my basic, we were CBed every weekend but one... don‘t think they allow that kind of stuff now.

And on the weekend wonder courses and co-op nonsense, you get all the time off you could possibly want. You rarely even spend a night, have no bedspace inspections, and don‘t even eat mess food. Heck, you don‘t even spend enough time with your coursemates to spread around a good case of shack hack... and didn‘t that use to be a PO/EO of basic? ;)

One reason you may not have been confined to barracks on your PLQ, (cannot vouch for the accuracy of this mind you) is that you cannot CB anyone above the rank of Pte without charge.

Oh, they still CB... at least, they did last year at ATC Meaford (then again, it IS run by the RCR)

On my SQ/BIQ we had to "earn" our priviledges. And right from weekend #1, when we couldn‘t leave, we still couldn‘t mess around and had to follow the pl comd to the beach (at least it was fun) and do sports... mandatory sports, which of course, caused me a knee injury.

Weekend #2 saw us get leave, but orders were strict, and we still had no access to anywhere on the base except the MIR. We needed to be marched everywhere by an instructor. Even the officers couldn‘t march us around.

Finally, as the courses progressed, we were allowed to the Canex on our own (if we marched ourselves), and eventually to the gym. Only the last week or so did we actually get permission to leave the base (and even then, there was a curfew, and the MP‘s were at the gate checking all the cars). Alas, we finally got mess priviledges near the end of BIQ.

It wasn‘t so bad, though. I used the forced time in the tent lines to sort my kit out and study the AFV recognition book, etc.

If extra time is needed to reiterate trg points or to emsure the students fully understand what has to be absorbed the wekend is a perfect time to catch up, confirm trg or prepare for upcoming events. the point being sure, there may be a school of thought frowning on CB but CB is a punishment and trg is trg. IF it ain‘t rainin it an‘t trg!
