Does anyone know what the contact information is for the intelligence company? My two choices are queen's york rangers or intelligence company for reserves.

I was looking for the same contact info, and the link is dead.  Does anyone know of an alternate link?

While I'm here, I know nothing at all about CF structure.  If a person is assigned to Intel, does that make them part of an Intel company or Platoon, or could they be Intelligence personnel of some other type of unit, such as Regimental Intel for an Infantry unit?

Jreese46 we don't have Intel in the CF, Intel is the company that makes CPUs. We have Int which the abbreviation for Intelligence branch. No if you join an Int Unit you will stay with that unit for quite some time. The likelihood of you being attach posted to a line unit are small. The other branches have pers that do a quicky course which is by no means quick, on intelligence. That is all.

Thanks guys.  Again, I know nothing of the CF structure, so please forgive me for using American abbreviation for Intelligence, rather than Canadian.

George, I have googled it prior to posting and I have seen that link, but it didn't answer the question for me.  Perhaps I'm just not getting it and needed it put a different way.  Sorry for asking a stupid question.

What I was doing was trying to determine if someone in the CF assigned to Int would be found by contacing an Int unit.  Here, it is not so easy.  Just about every unit has its own int personnel who may belong to an int unit, but will be found with the host unit instead.  Sort of like navy corpsmen assigned to marine infantry...just to be as confusing as possible.

Ah, your Corpsman analogy is slightly flawed. Since the Marines are the combat arm of the Navy, but does not maintain their own medical capabilities, the responsibility falls to the Navy to provide the medical care for the Corps. Regardless - belive I have answered your question already. It is not often that you'll find Int pers with line units, they have their own pers in that MOC trained for field int purposes. Most Int pers belong to units or are in support or staff positions.

You have to remember, I'm a civilian.  Simply, I was asking if all the intelligence people would necessarily answer the same phone.  From what you've said, it would seem not.

Why is it that so many forum people expect new arrivals to know as much as they do?

To summarize. Welcome to Army.ca, start reading.

Ok guys.

I thought maybe I could get help with something I didn't know.  Had I realized that I would be required to know it before I could ask it, I certainly wouldn't have wasted anyone's time.

As I said before, I googled already.  I looked through the different sites, and the different dead links that used to be sites.  The problem is...I'm a civilian.  I don't know enough about the military to understand half of what I'm reading.  I'm not looking to join the service, nor am I looking for a career in intelligence.  I would have expected these types of answers if I'd represented myself as some sort of expert, but I haven't.  I've clearly stated that I don't know what I'm doing, militarily, and have asked for help, so that I could in turn try to help someone else.  I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm pretty disappointed in the "should've done your homework" attitude I've gotten back.

Medtec, I certainly appreciate you taking the time to point out the difference between software companies and military intelligence units.  I certainly would've confused those two, had you not been there to guide me.  Now, hopefully someone will just remind me to breate every five seconds, so I don't forget and die.

I thought we had provided that help? I didn't expect you to know anything and I had explained it and answered your question haven't I?

That's fine, and again we've answered your questions haven't we? We don't expect everyone that comes in here to know what they're doing or that they know everything.

I don't get why you're asking this question then. If you had no interest in this field, or of joining the service why ask us these questions? I don't think you should be "helping" anyone better understand the CF other then pointing them to the CFRC or the respective local units. As you have said you know nothing about us, so how do you expect to help people to understand us when you yourself don't know us that well?

We, as a community are not about to spoon feed everyone that comes in here that wants to ask a question. Google is your best friend. You've gotten the same answers that I would've given anyone else that had came in here asking the same questions. It's too bad you're disappointed. If you're disappointed by something as small as this I don't know what else might disappoint you in life.

Ah, thats great! You asked a question wanting answers. I gave you the answer, and I corrected your misuse of an abbreviation. Yet here you are showing some attitude because you don't like the answer you got? Look back to the posts I've made with regards to the CF Int world. I have said it many times before and I will say it again. I will correct everyone and anyone who misuse the Branch's abbreviation. It's nothing against you, but you seem to take it personally. The fact is you HAD confused the two, and you misused the name of a company for an abbreviation, did you not?

My correction to your analogy was not appreciated either. So I wonder... why do you bother asking questions or make comparisons of things you know NOTHING about if you don't want an answer? I have answered your questions, or as much as I can and so have others but you continue to disregard our answers and think we're just attacking you. Think twice before you post again. If you want answers, you'll get it. We'll however expect you to do some boot work as well and won't just spoon feed you. If you don't want answers then don't ask questions, it's really that simple.

For god's sake, give the kid a break.  Put up the d*mn rainbow search post and let it go.

This is becoming asinine.  We dog pile on people for asking a question that we don't deem worthy.

Enough already.
